Why are 1sticks so short? Educate me please

Agree with this. 15"-16" is my preference. I like being able to extend my reach just that 3-4" the climbing up the actual stick, just more comfortable with it.
It’s not even the comfort factor even though I agree a 15” is more comfortable in use. 12” just kicks super easy. I’m gonna order a feather stick and stand offs and go back to 15” for next year for sure

When I built my first stick I went 12” just because I was thinking “ minimalistic “ however after standing on bottom step and hating the UP digging into my shins I went to 18”, I didn’t even think about stability but I must admit it really does feel better and pack ability is really nice with my pack too.

I currently use a full size hawk helium 3 step stick with a 3 step aider. I had hawk heliums and wanted to try one sticking, but didn’t want to buy a new stick. Never craved a shorter stick. A benefit to this long setup is I can get my top step like 8-9’ off the ground on my first set. I rarely need the bottom step of the aider except on the first set.

Can muddy pro sticks be purchased individually anywhere?
I’m not sure but I bet someone would be willing to sell you one if you post a wanted add in the classifieds. I’m sure guys have some laying around.

I was looking at this 10" one stick. Whats your thoughts on this?
I have only used my 15” EWO with UP PLATFORM, so I can’t be sure, but I think that would be fine for climbing in conjunction with a platform or ROS. Not sure about side pressure or standing on top. Only a short stick person can answer that.

I’m a small guy… 5’7” ~155lb… I wouldn’t go any smaller than my 12” that I love. I think 10” would really be pushing the limits where it’s going to be tight getting your boots safely and cleanly from bottom step to top of stick.

No top step. I would use for climbing only with a separate platform.

I snagged the stick from woodsdog2. i plan on building my setup during the off season. Lots of great info and people willing to help a newb out. I appreciate it!

Rock on then! Would be awesome. To play devils advocate, though one stick with a platform makes it even more mobile. Less to carry and less to futz with when you’re up at hunting height.

I went a bit longer than most at 18” but in really like the added length b/c it gives a bit more stability against kick out by havaing the stand offs farther apart
I'm just getting into one sticking. I ordered 2 9inch Beast Bat platform's and a mini beast stick tube with holes and the cam cleat from EWO. I already have the aiders and I think the 18" steps will work great for me. I'm only 5.5 and need all the height I can get.

There used to be an outfit selling single Muddy Pro 1-stick kits. IIRC it came with an Amsteel aider and rope. I thought it was Real Deal Amsteel or NJ Amsteel Creations or something like that but I don't see it on any current websites. I remember I was going to buy that before I found the Rebel Fab option and went that route instead.

Sounds like your best bet is going to be either the secondhand market, or buying the 3-pack from Muddy and selling off the ones you don't want.

If you’re looking for muddy’s they’re on camofire for cheap

I couldn't shorten my beast one stik and no one took me up on a trade offer so I bought a 16" square tube and made myself a mini.
I can tell you that I been liking one stiking but I like it even more now.
The mini is lighter, compact and much easier to use compared to the long stik.
Very happy with the result.
Now I need to get more stealth strips.
