Why don't yall 2TC?

I’ve been playing with srt lately but untied and re-tied all my tethers and got them out. The first two moves were a little rusty but then it came back right away. Remember to set your hitches, my foot loop ran down to my stopper knot on my first step today.

I started putting together some parts and experimenting with system. I have a question for those doing for quite awhile- I made up my foot tether so the length can be adjusted but am finding there is a specific length that once set is uniform throughout the climb. Am I right in this assumption? Thanks

You are correct. You are able to set both your upper and lower (foot tether) to certain lengths and climb without altering them at all. I personally like to get the most out of each of my moves so I move my foot loop on my bottom tether all the way up as high as I can so that when I stand up and move my upper tether I get it that much higher.

Adjusting your foot tether as you go takes a little more time despite getting the extra height so it ends up being pretty close in speed to the smaller movements that require no adjustments. So it depends on your flexibility, comfort with slack, and how many moves you want to make.

I am thinking that mechanical advantage could be applied so even a slightly weighted footloop could be adjuto get more upward movement what do you think?

I need to adjust my foot tether a lot.

The higher you climb the smaller around the tree gets.
When going around limbs (going up or down) I always need to adjust one way or another...

Having the ability to adjust my foot tether is non-negotiable! :triumph:

I need some recommendations on what to buy here.
Guarantee you don’t “need” to buy anything. That is unless you sold all your saddle hunting gear. In that case you will need two tethers.

I really can’t recommend a good bodied rope like predator in the 7/16-1/2”

2TC, what you need:
2 tethers 11-13ft long with a friction hitch and carabiner of your choice on each. 3-4 foot of 1” tubing webbing to make a foot loop. Attach the tubular webbing foot loop to one tether. Enjoy!

Extras:
Two non locking wire gate carabiners. Use these in conjunction with your tubular webbing to make a movable/removable foot loop. Fix the webbing to the the pair of carabiners with a bull hitch. This is great for going around limbs, leap frogging, and basic foot loop use.

Yes, once you figure out the length you should not have to adjust much unless you go to a significantly larger or smaller tree.

I did some experimenting today with a double footstep and this did away with the trunk wrap with the free leg. I used my linemans belt to steady myself while advancing my saddle tether/ rappell line and it was pretty pleasant. While initially I thought I was moving at a snails pace ( compared to srt with Roperunner I was) but was able to minimize slack and felt very secure. While it is a little slower the reduction in gear is nice and even though it was 90 here today I eas able to keep the sweat factor to a minimum. I used a CT Roll n lock on my leg tether and adjustment when needed was a breeze. My saddle line I used my Roperunner so adjustment is built in as well as ability to rappell out . Pretty slick.

Correction I eliminated the CT rollnlock for leg tether adjustment not exactly the proper use for it.

I went out early this morning and dialed in a spot that I found back in February. It is a pinch point where 3 trails converge between a big ridge and a sharp drop off into a marsh about 2 miles from the nearest road access. Today I picked the tree and 2TC'd it to make sure everything looked good. I went up about 28 feet and checked things out. From that vantage I can cover the convergence of all trails. It looks like a great spot. I keyed in on another spot on the way out also. It is a tree with great cover where the deer are crossing a creek. I need to get back in there and get that spot dialed in soon. It was just getting too hot by that point in the morning, and I decided to call it a day.

I took it slower this morning since it is becoming unbearably hot and humid. It took maybe ten minutes all told to set up.

28 feet  I think that's high enough lol.
It's situational to that spot. Since one side of the pinch is a bluff and the other a sheer drop off into a marsh, I have to get on up there in order not to be eye to eye with anything coming off the bluff side. I usually only go about 22 or so feet. There is a lot of cover on that bluff side now but once the leaves fall it could be a different story.
