Why don't yall 2TC?

That looks really clever. And if you used Pocono hitches you could bypass branches without having to pass anything through the loops.
Thanks. I was playing around a lot with Drt trying to make it work. I really liked it and it is a fun way to climb but the trees I have are just not conducive to it. Very few trees have load bearing limbs low enough. So, I was thinking if I had my Drt setup and got to the area and realized the tree I wanted to get in was a no go, then what? Make a 2TC out of 75 feet of Samson. I decided it probably wasn't too practical for me, but it was a fun experiment.

1 - I really like C-IV for tethers and this one is 'souped-up' C-IV
2 - I like sewn loops better than knots on the end of my ropes
3 - it's from Brocky
4 - my current favorite foot tether is in really rough shape
How was the Blake's to tie on C-IV? How does it hold?

Made a quick video where I try to slow down some of the moves in 2TC for beginners like @BackSpasm who are 2TC curious. I also try and show how a longer fixed bridge and top tether can be used to minimize your effort and be a little more efficient. I had a fun slip while describing what would occur if you slipped around the half way mark.

Gonna be interesting if you slip with fingers from both hands between your top tether and the tree.

If it’s the stiff stuff we need to see a vid of it in action

My footloop is made from simple nylon webbing. 2 loops because I had enough webbing. I ran them through 18" or so of PEX, and ran both PEX segments thru a vinyl hose. Wrapped the whole mess with vet wrap. Now it's very comfortable to climb on.

Loop is girth hitched to the terminal loops of a Longhorn Agile and permanently lives at the end of my tether. I find thay it doesn't get in the way when I'm 1-sticking or whatever. It does help thay my tether ws probably 15' long before I started tying knots in it.

I think the pex question should be directed here.

Thinking the softer method is stiff enough?

Gonna try the amsteel stiffener on my 7.9mm ultratech and the C-IV to compare, but that certainly looks stiff enough!
Do you put jut enough to cover the circumference of a large tree?
Also since I use John's maverick hitch to girth hitch the tree I leave a 30" tail at the beginning that isn't stiffened.
Plus everyone has amsteel laying around to try...
Also 1 major disadvantage i just thought of would be that Steel wire can rust after time especially if the rope ever gets wet!
