Why don't yall 2TC?

Just realized you’re in NJ. We need to have a meet, I might want to try this. I hate sticks. I love 2TC, but there are some fat trees that require another method.

I love my stepps. Where are you at? I’m in Morris County.

Alright so now that I'm all caught up I have a little something to contribute. I'm not sure if any of you were around when a few of us were fooling with the EONPOW climbers. They're like tree spurs but would be "public land legal"

Anyways I used them on some hunts and at one point I realized I could attach a foot loop to my tether and only carry one of them. I used that a handful of times. The reason I went away from it was you were pretty limited in tree size by the climber. But the concept I was using is actually really pretty similar to what you all are doing. It got me thinking last night that if you had some sort of stiff attachment around the tree you could probably come up with something that is almost a hybrid concept of one of those climbers and a foot ascender that functioned the same way a climbing treestand does except its only for one foot. The other foot you could just advance with your tether and a foot loop.
I have a removable tether stiffener that would work! Man....now I'm curious to try this!

And to answer the original question of the thread:
I don't T2C because it would not allow me to get in every tree I may need to. I will make note to start taking pictures of some of the funky trees that I sometimes end up in on a mobile hunt. I don't think there is any doubt that a basketball sized straight limbless tree would be the ideal tree for this technique. That ends up being the ideal tree for most mobile techniques. Once in a while I end up in these trees that are covered in vines with lots of branches and I don't want to give those situations up. Most of you probably know how much I love my 7 stepps with knaider. I think it's extremely adaptable. The only limitation I have is when I hit a tree too big to get the strap around. I like fooling with climbing techniques so I'm going to play with 2TC in the offseason. Some of the areas I hunt in the rut are a little more open where I'm hunting terrain so I think it could be a viable technique for me during those times.
Any tree with multiple branches requires every method other than SRT/MRS/JRB to have either 2 tethers or 2 linemans belts for passing. Thus you're right in that most people choose long straight trunks before branches are encountered. I and @gcr0003 I think have the only 2TC videos of branch passing and its easier than most might think!

You need a tether stiffener! Don't worry I'm not selling anything, just reminding that there's a great solution for big and shaggy bark trees!

Sorry for the multiple posts but I did just make another video of updates and answers to questions.
Here it is:

I did watch your video on the tether stiffener so it's in my brain.

I'll have to try 2TC on a tree with a bunch of branches and report back because 2TC in general was much easier on a straight tree than I even expected. I guess my comparison to climbing a tree with those branches with my stepps is that I can pass multiple branches with a swap of the lineman's belt. If I'm just passing one branch I can easily do it without hooking up my tether to go around and still maintain 3 points of contact.

So far, I'm really liking 2TC this season. I have a generous supply of straight limbless trees to work with so that is definitely a consideration. This method beats sticks hands down and for me feels a whole lot safer. There was always a point last year climbing onto the ring of steps while on my lineman's and while attaching my main tether that felt sketchy using sticks. This was worse at night in the dark coming down. Not so this season. Everything goes in the backpack and is light weight, neat and simple. Here I am the other evening about 27 feet up to my ring of steps overlooking a hot red oak.

I'm looking for a good video break down of this technique, but not from 15' away recorded on a cell phone. I've some idea but really wanna see a 'best' practice version, so that would be helpful if y'all got something in mind.

God luck this season!

There are some up close ones, but no real "teaching/practice" ones. I do hope to do a full 2TC "class" so to speak, but I only have a cellphone :) (which takes super awesome photos: see live in the saddle thread! ;) )

What exactly do you need to see that Redbird, Apexpredatoroutdoors, NorthFourty, Customgearoutdoors, gcr0003 and others haven't shown? I don't mean that rhetorically, but more in specifics of what you want to know.

It's more of aggregating the sort of preferred video library.

I'm interested in compiling some vids into a library, possibly in this thread as opposed to a vid on page 2 a vid on page 7, 3 vids on page 15. Thus my question is more along the lines on who used what to figure out certain aspects of the 2 TC.

If someone compiles a link to all the 2TC videos you want to see I can start and sticky a thread with them and lock it from comments to reduce the clutter.
It would be great if there was a way to upload videos to the site without having to use something like YouTube, etc. Any chance of that?
