Why don't yall 2TC?

Decided to try it, thanks for the link.

Not sure where to post this, but after watching a few videos, I have a question about tree limbs. I have an extra muddy lineman/ tether that I thought I could use as follows. Climb up to the limb using two tether techniques. Take out extra tether, install above limb as my safety tether, hook in, then uninstall first safety tether and move above the limb, reinstall. Then climb up until foot tether is at limb, unhook and rehook above. Does that make sense?

That's exactly how I do it. Only difference would be if possible, I'd pass both the tether and foot loop over the branch at the same time.

I wanted to give y'all an update. MY CGM kit and part of my EWO order came in, so I figured I'd make my first attempt. The tree I used was a little small and wet, but I was only going up a few feet to see. On the first pass, I used sneakers and was sweating profusely after three moves, lol. So I watched Jerry's video again and made some adjustments and three moves were much easier. I'm not nearly done, but it's a start. I need to play with bridge length so I don't have to shorten it once I get to my hunting position and how high I put my 2nd tether to start. I figure a dryer and basketball-sized tree would be different, so I'll test that out as well. I'm in no rush. Thanks all.

Out curiosity,
What does everyone use for actual full sit once they get to HH with 2TC?
Do you guy haul be the platform up or ros or
There is some awesome rope only method?

Thank you

I can’t answer for others but it depends on my long I plan to sit. If it’s gonna be a short evening hunt (4 hours or less) I love ROS, but if I am gonna be out in the woods longer than that especially in one tree, I like a platform- but even then I keep a couple slotted squirrel steps for walking the back side of the tree.

With all the climbing methods available now, and the hundreds of doll hairs being thrown around to achieve the lightest system in the galaxy, I'm wondering why more folks haven't taken to Two Tether Climbing. Some may call it walking on spaghetti strings (my buddy @Weldabeast), but there are a few nuts around here that have become very efficient with it.

For me, an ascending/descending method with minimal buy-in cost that can be stuffed into a cargo pocket is one that's hard to beat. However, I understand that it may not be for everyone and that's exactly what I'd like to explore in this thread. If you've tried 2TC and walked away from it for some reason, would you share why? What didn't work for you? What didn't you like about it? What did you like? And if you've never tried it, what is keeping you from giving it a go?

Maybe together, we can share some tips and/or tricks that will encourage you to try it, or try it again!

Fyi I like the workhorse on the scout, just a lil person requires some dedication right now

I messed with this a bit more. The main reason I'm not doing it all the time is I'm still better (smoother, less nervous/less sweaty) with sticks. I do think this technique has a lot of promise though, and likely getting a real leg loop instead of my webbing loop will make it easier as well.

Apologies if this is covered somewhere previously, I glazed over in the middle of the thread a bit... Original video shows an amsteel tether... Doesn't this get snagged and caught like crazy on tree bark? Im not worried about a little bit of abrasion affecting it's structural integrity, but seems like amsteel would be much more annoying than rope (for negligible weight savings)
