Why don't yall 2TC?

Well add me to the list of guys that gave in to the rhetoric and gave it a shot.
I was so frustrated after 20 minutes that I was ready to unhook, jump down the 8’ I had made it and walk home.

Forget all the frustrations of climbing and look at the bigger picture.

Using sticks, 1-sticking or otherwise to climb, did you find ways to descend using 2TC methods? If you did, regardless if you ever climb this way, you’ve learned another way to safely get down.

One-sticking up and 2TCing down works really good!

Forgive me if this has been covered and I overlooked it, but do any of you 2TC on pine trees? It seems that it would be a noisy and messy undertaking. What is the best tree to learn on to avoid any unnecessary struggles? Thanks

Can’t believe the length of this thread. I really need to give 2tc climbing a try again. I made a 2tc system from a YouTube video of Jerry Grosse’s I tried it one time and found it slow but not terribly difficult. I’m sure I could become more efficient with some practice.

All the time. We have about 8 quadrillion of them around here so there is no way to avoid them. Most of our pines are OK. Every once in a while, you get one that is super flakey. When I was learning this method about a year ago one of the main trees I learned on was a pine in my back yard.

What I love about 2TC is that I don't have to think about it anymore. I carry everything I need to climb and hunt in a medium backpack and can be 20 feet up most trees in about 7 minutes and be hunting. Once you learn it, and there is a pretty steep learning curve, it is like riding a bike or driving a stick shift. It becomes second nature. I can concentrate on hunting deer because the question about how I am going to get up and down the tree is settled.

You don't happen to live in Georgia do you? I need to hire me a private tutor. I was hoping to get to the Florida get together and see it first hand but didn't get to go.

No, but if you come up here, Duluth, you can practice it in winter weather and snowy conditions any time for the next month or 2. You are most welcome to stop by any time!
