Why don't yall 2TC?

alright, I have about 10'6" of rope, formerly my linesman belt for one-sticking. is that enough length to make a foot tether and convert to 2TC? I know @NMSbowhunter posted a pic of his rig a while back and the foot tether was 14' of rope. I assume that's a safer length for getting around large trees.
You should be able to get by with that except for large trees. Using something like a separate foot loop would but you a little wiggle room.

I think that's why @John RB tries to call them "remote release hitches" or something to that extent.
I appreciate the mention and wanted ya to know that when someone asks me a question, I use it as motivation to answer it in a format that will help others in the future. In early September, I self filmed a clip of a late say "silhouette tree climb" and part of it became my first YouTube "short". It just showed the climb. Based on your question, tonight I made the time to produce the tail end into another short on rappel on the Munter, Longhorn Agile and the retrievable Maverick Hitch canopy anchor.

And on a broader topic, there is a fair amount of similarity in 2TC and my "hitch climbing method". Its just that I climb the rope, not the tree, and because I alternate sides of the rope onto the tree, I am always on zero slack and have a quick rappel path to ground. I will add some more content on that when I can. Cheers.

Got me there. A bit antidotal but i got an elk eating starburst on a stump.and got a buck crossing the road.maybe hanging in the tree is not logical.we should all shoot while rappelling or it dont count.i mean my budy rests his rifle on his beer can out the window of his truck and kills more deer than anyone i know.he thinks that every peice of sliver slingin gear is for idiots .tells me all the time my bow is stupid ,what you think you are an indian go whear à camo loin cloth.my camo is stupid ,my hiking gear is stupid, and my climbing gear.....5 double O stupid.why you climb trees dumby....the deer aint in the trees.just go get one.i say dude ...your just à road hunter....he says they gotta cross the road dumby......huh?

I just have one question: who was eating the Starburst, you or the elk?

Truly I’m planning to try 2tc again this off season, using both ends of rappel rope. 1rap or cry.
I played with using both ends of the rope but moved away from it for a few reasons. A thought I have had but havent tried would be to add 2 prussic's on the rappel rope midline. Connect the hitches with a carabiner with the rope going behind the tree. Then clip in a foot loop on one or the other hitch basically creating a single line 2TC system. It seems to work in my head but not sure how it will function on a tree.

That’s exactly what I’m envisioning… and I’ve also not tried it yet, but it seems good in my head. The middle part of the rope can then stay in my pouch. Only thing I can think right now that might be an issue is I keep my rappel on right side of saddle but I think climbing with left foot in loop is more comfortable, so it would cross in front of me or I’d have to switch sides.

I want to try it mid line rather than the end of the line so I can still use the rappel rope as a pull up.

Gotcha. All my stuff stays on my back on the way up. If that’s too difficult with 2TC then a)I’m carrying too much or b) 2TC ain’t for me.

Somebody else mentioned using the Maxx aider in place of foot loop, I just got one and I’m planning to try that too. Just like I “one stick” with a regular stick and separate platform, I’m going to bastardize this 2TC thing too.

Bow is normally the only thing I pull up and I normally use my pull down line for that. But if my plans to make the windwalker a one sticking stand doesnt work the way I think it will, I might pull it up rather than wearing it up. Using the end of the line, you could use long prussic like someone showed on here and girth hitch the stopper end. Foot loop on a second normal prussic and up you go. Flip side is if the mid line approach works ok and there isnt a need for using the end of the line as a pull it, the rest of the rappel rope could stay in its pouch until time to come down. No need to pull the whole line out that way. Dang it now I gotta test 2 ways.

Alright you clowns, I finally got a chance to get out in the yard today to try my hand at 2tc. (48 degrees out today. Martha, It's a friggin heatwave) I rigged up a foot loop with some military grade 2" webbing and hooked it in with a ropeman on my spare tether. Messed around with it for 10 minutes or so at ground level then decided if @tailgunner can do this than anybody can :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: I use a collapsible pole to set my tether using my rappel rope and a Pocono hitch. This is what I have been doing when practicing 1 sticking. I hooked my Madrock up and away I went. Made a couple of moves until I got to my upper tether, then rappelled down. The second time I climbed up to my upper tether and moved it up then made another move, then rappelled. I probably only went up to about 10 or 11 feet but not bad for a first attempt. I think you stable geniuses may be on to something after all! lol.

would you post a pic of the webbing to the Ropeman? I would love to see that. I have a ropeman from my linesman and that would make it easy to make a foot loop.
