Has anyone tried the modified platform to the wild edge steps posted on YouTube by Kevin Wigington? And if so how were the results? Thanks for the input.

I’ve been using a plywood platform for the primal step for quite a while! I started with the drilled holes but evolved to a slide in fit.

Thanks, I saw the video and thought that it could work. Watching the video I was unable to see all the measurements. The slots r 1 inch wide, but how long?

I made one of those to test out last year. It worked but I didn't care much for the flex of the plywood.

I made this video awhile ago. It worked pretty well. Very easy to make.

I used the plywood platform all last season and loved it. I did however decide that the plywood had a little too much flex for my liking, so I went with a piece of pine board from Lowe’s. I believe it is 3/4 inch thick, took out all of the flex issues. Just my $.02.

You can use thicker wood on the primal platform because the cross bar that u step on sits lower down. Most people use the primal because of that

Thanks, I made one today out of 3/4 inch plywood. Seems to be ok, but you really have to get the step good and tight. Putting your weight out on the platform makes the stand offs want to pull away from the tree more.

Very true, needs to be super tight, but type of tree makes a difference too. It will pull away from thick bark trees like pines much easier
