I think you would be ok for the most part as long as you wrap around the excess ends of the strap and tuck them back into the tensioned part on the tree, just so they don’t wave around in the wind. My buck last year and the rest of the deer in the area couldn’t have cared less about my steps.

Honestly I think they blend in really well. Especially in cedars
 
I bought a 10 pack off here with the WE platform and aider. Did a test climb at home last night and used them to get up over 20' this morning (in the dark) for bow opener. Currently 21' up on my second tree for the day. I'm using 4 steps then the platform with 2 steps on either side. I couldn't figure out the aider yesterday but watched the video again last night and realized I needed to out it up another step higher. That fixed it.

After my first 6 hrs in the stand, I like them. This is the first time I've saddle hunted. 10 steps seems to be more than I need for regular use. I'm also going to change my backpack so I can put them in there instead of hiking a mile with them on my shoulder.

I've used them for two seasons now. I recommend getting a kydex holster for 4 or 5 steps. It makes deploying them and picking them up so much easier. I still carry mine in the bag in my pack and hook the holster to my saddle when I get to my tree. I also bought a 10pk and have only used 5.

I'm also interested where you can het a holster for these.

Question on k/s for anyone out there:

I'm having trouble getting my knaider hook on the rung, and coming down hard to get off and my foot isn't fully seated in the swaider. I'm assuming I should shorten the swaider?

I got mine from @lhold450 last year. Not sure if he's still making them but if he is I would definitely recommend one, he did a really good job and it makes hiking in to the tree infinitely better without having to sling the stepp bag over the shoulder. I also got some "heavy duty" felt from a crafts store that I cut out and super glued to the inside of the holster and now it's dead silent when taking stepps in or out

Top of my swaider carabiner is below my belt. Too high def is a struggle to get your knee high enough.

I concur, Sw probably too long. Waist high sounds like a good suggestion. After that play around with linesmans length. Setting it just right will give you the proper room to maneuver.

... this has pretty much convinced me to go WE steps and k/s... i am going to order or build this so that I can clip it to the top of my pack and just tie it down with gear ties or something... not as awkward as my sticks and wont snag brush since itll be within my profile on the pack... then I'd switch it to my hip before climbing

I do it on my pack. My badlands pack has molle webbing on the hip belt. When using my sling pack I do it on the back. 5-6 steps gets kind of heavy on saddle or belt. No one not even deer want to see a full moon!

Idk why I never thought of that. I really liked the WE steps and k/s combo for ascending but never could get comfortable descending and didn't want to take a chance on making a mistake after dark with them and taking a fall so I stick with my sticks. Pines dominate my neck of the woods so I changed the ropes to amsteel but have yet to test them to see the difference. I reckon I'll have to give that combo a shot real soon.
