Added my bassboy to this conveniently placed aluminum stand. It's like the Taj Mahal.

Lol it was a, mess. There was a, ladder stand with a lock on above it for filming. I put my platform along side the top of the lock on.

I wanted to get saddle points so bad this weekend. But alas I am going home empty. I may come back out in November to try again.

I could have shot several does, but I have meat in the freezer and really wanted a chance at a buck.

Depends on the DBH. Under around 10", no issues with just the platform. Bigger, I may add a step or two on the back side. Even then, I'm comfortable without the extra steps pushing off the platform with one foot and toe hook with the other for stabilization. Dave1963 has some great videos shooting 360 from the platform. I picked up the "harness twist" trick from him last year. That is a money move.

Bass,

Sir, can you post pic's of your stand and mods? The pic's are no longer showing up.

I have a an original LW stand and the upper V-Bracket has stretched and given out so the stand no longer will cam and hold level. I spoke with Jared at LW about using a bat wing offset or if the V-Brackets for that model can be purchased.

He stated they don't make them any longer and would not recommend modding for the Batwing due to his liability (understandable).

He has made me a killer price for a new (scratch and dent) model assault, but I want to get into the saddle system so I haven't decided to grab the great deal.

with the Klemz stand can a 1.25" tube be used? Is that what you guys are doing? The tube on the original seat is 1" I believe.

So how is this mod performed is basically what I need to know, thanks!

hmmm. I don't know what happened to the pics. I'm sure they are still indexed in google. I already found one. Otherwise, I'll take some new pics.

There is nothing much to making a Klemz platform. Just the seat, a piece of 1/8" wall 6061 1" square tubing, and a means of attaching to the tree (like a versa button).

I'm not sure this will work with 1.25" tubing. Just measure the gap. Easy peasy.

So a newer V-bracket or Batwing offset would work? My original V-Bracket is the part that has failed.

I can figure the rest out based on your pic, thanks

I used 1.5 x 1" for all of them that I built. There is barely enough room for thin nylon washers,

Sorry Dave. I couldnt help myself with the title. Many people have asked so here it is. My favorite platform. Its a modification of the KLEMZ design. My favorite parts about this modified design:

1.) Rock solid with one strap. Strap it down and cam lock it to the tree and it is rock solid. I'm 215 lbs and can jump on this thing all day and hit it hard from the side. No second strap required.

2.) Weight. 2 lbs, 2.1 oz. to be exact.

3.) Shim leveling system. Right now I'm using PVC shims with a bumper. They aren't pretty but they work. I hope to make some better ones before season. Considering 3D printing at the moment. Note that the platform is filed slightly to allow for adjustability.

The range of adjustability isn't as large as other systems but covers my typical slightly leaning trees. I have other platforms for the more extreme leaners (Thanks Dave1963!)
Pics do not open. Can you repost please? Thanks,Tom

Ernie,

Are you using an original V-Bracket 1” gap or a newer one?

It appears you have the 1.5” width to the front to back dia. if the gap in the seat. Am I seeing that right?

Any pics of the back of the stand?

And does yours have some means to level?

Sorry for all the questions.

One last one do you sell a kit to make the Klein’s?

Lol ok here we go. The bar is positioned so it is 1.5" right to left and 1" front to back. Then I add a newer v bracket that I bought from lone wolf.

You'll notice I also have a strap on top. That is to help in setting it up. I usually put a small hook in the tree first to hang the strap from. Then I can use both hands to put the strap on and adjust.

I don't have a way to level it, but it hasn't been an issue yet.

I will try and get you some pics.

As far as making a kit, I hadn't though about it, but I suppose I could, assuming people sourced their own seat....

Thanks!

That helps a lot, and if you were to make a kit (please) would it contain all parts except the seat?

Maybe I'm missing it somewhere.. Where do you source a seat to use as a platform that has those teeth in the back? Is that the Klemz platform? I looked at XOP and Lone wolf for that part and can't find it. I searched Klemz and can't find it that way either. Thanks in advance.

You can't source the seat! That's the problem. Most are in Wisconsin. I've found a few on craigslist but the owners weren't willing to ship them. Then I asked @BassBoysLLP to pick it up for me but he bought them and kept them for himself lol.
