BassboysLLP's ultimate platform

Instead of pre-ordering what about crowd funding? I mean, I guess technically it's the same thing. Just gives more visibility to what money has been put up vs. the capital required.

I've thought about that as well.

Can we get an idea of the size platform? Also, how much initial investment do we need to get stated? How much per platform? I'm ready to pre-purchase 3-5 of them myself. I would like to see some drawings of whay it might look like.

Size is probably the biggest question I would imagine. Many would ideally want something small like the old Lone Wolf seat, others might want something bigger. My assumption is that most guys have tried at least one platform, but few have hunted out of everything across the size gamut to know what they really want vs what they think they might want.

I'm not an expert in casting, but perhaps a large mold could be designed, and outer portions could be plugged to cast smaller platforms from the same mold. That versus cutting three tools or getting everyone to agree on what to go with.

I agree. Personally, I'd like something about 2 inches wider and longer then the kleemz style seat.... with the tree bracket cast in it of course. Curious to see what others want.

X2. I’m in for crowd funding or pre order. If you guys are willing to do the work I have no problem helping financially.

Is water jetting a viable option vs. casting?

Crowd funding reduces risk and shifts risk to the buyers from the initiator.
I am into taking some risk.

If you run into snags about casting. I have a good friend who is in charge of the biggest out sourcing of tool and die work in the world.
He is a busy man but if I knew what what questions to ask I could quiz him on where to get this done

Agree about it being bigger, if I had to choose 1, I think longer length is more important than more width. I also think it could be a little thicker... It hasn't bent yet, but that's my biggest concern.

Agreed, since we have control of the design we should beef it up a bit.

I believe all of the cast platforms are done by sand casting because of the cost and the simplicity of the parts. What kind of quantity are we talking about here? I'm not real familiar with the modern day process as I have mainly been a tool and die guy in manufacturing plants. What research i have seen it wouldnt take very much to produce these platforms and modifying the design is not a real big deal. Ontariofarmer I think you would only need the concept and quantity for your friend to be able to tell all of you what you need to know.

The final shape is actually a 3d geometry rather than a 2d cutout. So with waterjet you'd still have to do some machining. And solid blanks of aluminum to start with would be really expensive. Once a casting is made the amount of aluminum required per part would go way down.

So...let's see some art work of the proposed platforms. I know it's early but I would like to know around about what everyone is thinking.

I am a farmer and clueless about that business but will try and ask him when he is home he is away presently

Maybe I've missed it but is there any proposed renderings of the platform you guys are considering on a different thread?

I can model something up over the next couple days.

I've got a very elementary sketched out version on paper, I can scan and upload if that's what everyone thinks we should do.

I'm no architect or engineer but I consider myself to have decent vision and I can jerry-rig with the best of em! LOL
