It arguably depends on your outerwear. Compression from the saddle increases the r value per inch of your outerwear but reduces the r value overall. Cold butt is a chance. Both options are modular. It's a nice value add regardless of kestrel vs. mantis. This is a solid build.
I just never remember experiencing a cold bum while wearing any of my saddles.

After a full season of testing the mesh version of the kestrel, it will be available soon. We don’t like to release a product without thorough testing of safety, duablilty and longevity through the conditions experienced during a full hunting season. The main thing we learned from this season long testing is that it’s not if your butt will get cold, it’s when. So to battle this we have created a a modular “underquilt” that can be added or removed from either kestrel version.

Be on the lookout for additional photos of the mesh kestrel, modular underquilt and a full video review from @bowhunter15

We need a sleeping bag style body suit to go with the kestrel? I hunt a lot of hot weather and love the new mesh options coming out, but I also hunt some 10F weather.

This is exactly why I have decided to just chill. So many new options popping up. I bought the Evo so I have it until I’m decided on the best purchase for me in another saddle if any. I don’t know about y’all but I just can’t keep pouring money into this. I do like the fact that I would get adjustment straps on the Kestrel already included. I’m just gonna hurry up and wait.

Flinginairos , what pack are you using in the promo video. And is that what you hunt with?

@Boudreaux and I recorded a podcast about the Kestrel last night that will launch on Thursday, and we made sure to touch on the mesh. I was one of the testers last year and did a lot of hunting out of it as well as walking through rough cover.

Compared to the current cordura version, the mesh requires less sewing and has different buckles, both of which will noticeably drop the price and weight. Also, lineman's loops will be positioned a little further forward and molle loops will be slightly looser for easier attachment of accessories.

do you know when we get to see pictures/video of the buckles and such?

Would you say that your butt will get cold with either version so you might as well get the mesh one plus underquilt?

More or less that's what I think. Eventually mesh plus add ons might obsolete cordura but that's just speculation. Though the cordura will be slightly warmer than the mesh because when insulation is compressed, the cordura is a bit thicker and of course solid fabric.
