Live from the tree 2017 version

I sit and lean in my sit drag. When I get my back rest and sit drag right it’s very comfortable to me. The only tree I have been uncomfortable in was a large tree. I think a large tree creates hip pinch fo me.

whats the big bracket on the back of your hobie for...a TM? if so why leave that at home

wait...power pole? nice

Ive got a old town pdl that uses a rear rudder...love it, but wish I could do the power pole thing

grats on the pork
Yeah power pole. I don't trust it as a long term anchor when I'm not in the boat so I leave it at home.

That's hunt was really cool. I think I got both kill shots on film.

Cool let's see them!

Sir drag tonight. First sir behind the owners house. Had the biggest buck I've ever seen at 50 yards back here last year.

Switched trees to the spot where they all seem to funnel around the house to the front fields.

In your picture you appeared to be sitting. I was never comfortable in the sit drag sitting. If you have a good platform it's pretty comfortable leaning.
I was having to adjust constantly while in the SD. Sit, stand, lean, rest against tree with my knees, i even leaned against the tree with my side and adjust the tether.
It seemed simple and easy but 30 min in, it was like I was in a ant mound......could not be still.
I actually come down with 45 min left of hunting light.
SD is not for me. Can't enjoy a hunt in a SD.

I used one hunting once. That was enough for me.

It's always interesting how skiddish these deer are. My freak out doe that I wish would die was working her way into me, someone in the distance slams a car door and she goes into horn blowing freak out. Taking all the other deer with her. I'm not sure what's wrong with her but since last year just about anything sends her into horn blowing freak out. I watched her fawn run into her last year she ran all over full tilt blowing for ten minutes. Thirty minutes later she was back. I wonder if the poor thing is partially blind because it's usually noises or sounds that send her crazy. Poor thing just needs to get in range so I can end her screwing up my freaking hunts.

Did everything
I actually used two sit drags with my setup. If you can't get comfortable I wouldn't waste my time with it. This year I'm trying to just use the kestrel but I'm still keeping my sit drag. I will probably use it during bow season next year for short hunts at presets. The kestrel is not that hot but I had a hour and half drive to get home last night after hunting and my bottom was still wet when I got home.

Same doe just sprinted past me at ten yards horn blowing. Gets 50 yards behind me down wind stops blowing puts her head down like nothing happened and starts plucking leaves.

I watched one last year snort and stomp because of a fox squirrel. Even when she got close enough to see it on the ground she ran off and started again. The rest of the deer just ignored her so apparently she acted like that often. Some deer will freak out about anything.

Even though I don't mind the SitDrag for comfort, I will be picking up the kestrel after Christmas. I expect it to be my full time saddle from then on.

Well. If the wind would've done what all my weather apps said it was going to do I probably would've got a shot tonight.

Instead it blew in every direction. Every time it would switch they would start blowing.

Good thing is I have been on deer on all of my hunts. 3 for 3 so far.

That's why I bought ozonics last year and scentlok this year. Here there is no such thing as a steady wind until it gets over 10 miles per hour and even then it shifts at least 45 degrees back and forth.

IMG_20171001_14105.jpg The Michigan opener finally arrived. I didn't get out this morning but made it out this afternoon. Didn't see a thing until I got back to my trick. I could see 4 sets of eyes within 20 yards of my truck.:persevere:
Can't wait for my Kestral to get here!!!

Yeah I think I just need to wait for a 8-12 mph wind. I typically hunt every chance I can because I'm limited on time so we'll see if I can be patient.
