Live from the tree!

I need some good hunting JuJu sent my way.

This weekend will be my last Live post (at least for deer) this season.

I'm hunting in the morning tomorrow. I have a commitment tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I can find a baby sitter (wife is working) so I can hunt all day Sunday.

My wife's family celebrates Russian xmas so it's a holiday for me tomorrow. I'm off til next weekend so you can have my good vibes for the weekend. Might get a little scouting in though
 
I didn't take a picture because I was so cold but I shot a button buck yesterday. My first deer taken with a bow. I still need to practice because I hit him in the spine. I would have let him walk but I thought it was a doe.

No judgement here man. I am wanting to do the same thing with my son. Right now, he is hunting with my father on his gun lease out in west Texas, but lease rules don't let me (an adult non lease member) out there in regular season. I just live vicariously through the stories. We are already talking about equipment and hunting setups for hanging in the same tree when he gets old enough. It will most definitely be with a gun at first.

Second hunt from the SD. Wanted to get up on top of this ridge since early season but there's no way I'm carrying a stand all the way back here. I was sticking body warmers on and had 4 does run right underneath me.

This is one of the only oaks I have found on this part of the property (it was logged over 30 years ago). There are rubs all over the place too. Wish I had started the season in the sit drag so I could've hunted this spot more. I know where I'll be sitting on opening day next year though!

It might just be the pic but that stopper knot on the prusik side of your bridge looks a little sketchy. Looks like almost no tail on it.
 
Yeah. After reading the prusik knot failure thread I will be redoing my bridge and tethers for next year.

My last hunt 1/8/17

Regular season closed so we had one week of private land doe only. This is what I found on my private land 1/11/17

The land owner had know idea and really didn't seem to care. I don't see myself continuing to put money into his land fixing fences, adding fences, food plots bush hogging if he just don't care. I was told I had sole hunting rights.
