Agreed too many lives lost for the freedoms we have and then to infringe or make laws that contradict common sense or freedom. Well said and god bless all that have given the time and paid the price in defense of those freedoms

Apropos of nothing, have you ever hunted the great swamp? I know the kill off made it bad the last few years. Hopefully it will come back soon.

And if there is a report of a hunter killed by a bear, holding a 0.75 oz spray and a hand saw, that would be me. :)

This was the first time I've been a little unnerved in the woods in a while. I was keeping an eye on the two that I had been watching all night as I started to pack up when another one showed up about 30 yards away. That one watched me climb down the tree lol. After I got halfway down I couldn't see him anymore cause it was thick on the ground so I quickly packed up and got the heck out of there.

My hunting area is loaded with bears... it sucks hunting deer around them...

No I haven't. I've been thinking about putting in for the permits though, I only live about 25 minutes from there.

Lol. I moved to north jersey about 7 years ago. The first time I saw a bear in the woods I high tailed it out of there so quick. The next season I saw so many bears (29 during fall bow!) that I started carry spray. Well at this point I've seen so many darn bears that I've become pretty lax and never carry it. I've had a few times where I was on edge but generally I just watch them and let them go about there business. I also don't do stupid things like crawl into dens...

Bear spray is the first thing on my check list when i load my pack...

I hunt and work nearby. I just read up on it and it is 7,700 some odd acres. Lottery with 200 permits and only certain days in the first two weeks of Nov. and only permit shotgun / permit muzzleloader. And more federal rules. What a sanctuary (for the most part). Unfortunate for the mass die off a few years back.

I've not seen one bear in NJ, but I know the area I hunt has them. I gotta order the 0.75 oz bear spray. I've seen multiple in PA though.

Back somewhat on topic, I just received a sit and drag. Going to test it out (w/ RC harness backup) and see how it stacks up to a guidos web.

Yea, I'm going to look into the great swamp also. I haven't really looked because its not bow hunting.

And can you actually buy 0.75 oz of bear spray??

Yes you can. Some of it comes in a pink container. I'd get that, but it clashes with my camo pattern.

Lol. I just googled it and got sidetracked on to state pepper spray laws. It's crazy....

Passed up a pretty nice buck tonight. Hunting a permit only area where the main goal is doe management so I really need to put another doe down. There are some bruisers in there though so its worth holding out. I've been in there a few years now so my knowledge of the land is really starting to pay off.

I wish we could hunt bear here in Missouri! Our population is too low right now, only like 3-4 hundred. MDC is trying to bring back elk as well I'm hoping to get on some elk here. Hunting out of state is way beyond my means at the moment.

I wasn't able to get out for our bear hunt, but in one week they killed almost 600 bears. All 6 days were archery and the last 3 included muzzleloader.

We have a serious bear problem.
