LWCG Arrowhead broadhead

Sign of the times…. Why do the hard thing when I can just to the easy one. Who cares if it costs more…it’s easier

Tractor vs Ox.

Often that's called progress.

I thought this was a poorly timed April Fool's joke until the Lusk video..... Why? There are plenty of disposable 3 blades available at this price point why buy the one that looks like a lego brick? What kind of energy does it take to push this through viscous tissue? that will then close behind that fat head and not stay open like Lusk alluded to. Seems like they took whatever RF and Dr. Ashby have said about braodheads and went the opposite direction.

I don't know that a broadhead necessarily has to strictly follow Ashby's creed to be effective for whitetails, but I agree that these types of punch through broadheads would seem to be subject to greater friction and fluid resistance. I was surprised this head even made it 7&1/4 inches in Lusk's gel test, and the Annihilator XL went 8.25". I wonder how much reduced shaft friction is helping there. Of course this is different than field testing, but somewhat surprising to me nonetheless.

It's not like it's the primary pitch, or something exclusive to LWCG. It's just a feature they're pointing out.

I have heard of broadhead reflection talked about long long ago. Who knows if it really ever spooked a deer, but folks signal airplanes by reflection so who knows.

Given a finish that actually also does something (like increases slippage, increases durability, etc.), vs raw metal, if it also eliminates reflection, I'm for it.
Going to start coating my broadheads in gatorglide to reduce the drag while going through the animal....

I will admit that I have colored a broadhead with a sharpie before

Throw your tractor away when it needs an oil change.

Shoot the ox when it needs a drink.

We're making progress now.

They banned plastic grocery bags here. And Straws. Probably paper plates are on the chopping block next.

But I've never repacked birdshot I've pulled from a carcass.

From another broadhead manufacturer...

• Deep Bronze Cerakote ceramic coating for protection from elements and aids penetration through heavy tissue and bone.

Your pic shooting into concrete.
Five shots through a steel plate pic. The Woodsman does not like concrete, it's in the instructions, LOL.

It also had far superior edge retention, despite an extra 3 shots through the plate, compared to the LWCG. Just everything has it's pros and cons. I'm in the camp of these LWCG heads have too many cons to consider, but some of what people are jostling about I don't follow.

You should move

I've moved alot. I generally like it here. I've seen more junk piles and broke down tractors living and traveling, well, elsewhere. I don't need a lesson on how things were, or are. I have a street sweeper come by every morning. :)

Just to ease Plebe, I'm a big fat NO on these broadheads. I treated the early Rage broadheads as disposable but they had one pro that I loved and that was the massive entry/exit holes and blood trails. I don't see that pro on these heads.

Ashby's creed is certainly overkill for whitetails, but I prefer overkill to underkill. The LWCG head did perform better than what I expected, but I still question the design choices, it screams "lets make it different", not "lets make it better"

I was just letting you know that GatorglideTM is going to be a bear to push through the IP courts with the numerous existing Patent Pendings in slick broadhead finishes. But you may see GatorglydeTM from overseas exports next year, lol. Unfortunately sharpie coatings have been public domain for awhile.

As "bad" as Rage broadheads are, I never had problems with them. I agree, large entry/exit holes, good blood trails, short tracking jobs. I had shifted to the 1.5" cut Rage heads though, and preferred those to the 2" broadheads, given the bowspeed of my SwitchbackXT. I think there's a resistance factor that needs to be overcome by your gear one way or another and the 1.5" were better for my setup.

I mean I've already said I don't like the LWCG broadhead design, so there's no argument there.

But I suspect there's folks losing deer thanks to the measuring contest that's come from RF/Ashby as well.

Is there any video of anyone affiliated with LWCG shooting a live animal with these broadheads?

I recollect there were pictures posted to FB of deer shot with them last season during testing.

The broken pattern of logic used to fuel this product design is identical to the one used to come up with 99% of the stuff people on this forum or who “saddle hunt” use.

The reactions to the “why?” Are funny to me, given that.

I think that this broadhead’s impact on a fellers success will likely be inside the margin of error and not measurable. Just like Ashby stuff. And just like that I agree it could be argued it likely costs as many opportunities as it pays.

All this said, it still feels like a troll job. I can’t shake it. And if it is, and the why behind it is just to poke people and other broadhead makers, I might sell everything and buy lwcg. That would be hilarious.
