The lightest multi-step aider ever conceived?

Question...

Anyone replaced all of their rope with amsteel? I know some guys have made an amsteel bridge, but outside of losing ability to run a ropeman has anyone tried replacing their tether and linemans belts with amsteel?

We have not come up with a good safe way to do it yet.

I can't find it by the foot on ebay, only in pre-cut lengths. Is that what you're buying?

Yeah I just buy whatever lengths I can find. Some of them are best offer option and they will take $5-10 less than what it’s listed for

I ordered some 1/4" Amsteel in Olive Drab color this morning. 50' should be enough for some neat projects like this. I still have a couple hundred feet of the 1" camo tubular webbing.

How are the lock stitches holding up? What is the bury length for the lock stitch sections?

I just pulled trigger on 30' of 1/4" and 50' of 3/8. Looking forward to tinkering with some amsteel!!

Bury length is roughly 3". I couldn't figure out a better way to do it other than heavily stitching it. If someone can figure out a way to do it without stitching that would be sweet! I used a bundle of strands out of a scrap piece of amsteel to lock stitch it and it didnt budge when I tested it. Another thing to note, the extra pieces I added to the foot loops to help hold them open are sitting against the standing part of the rope so there's really no way for the rope to get pulled up inside itself. That probably doesn't male sense but not sure how else to explain it haha :D

I'm hoping some of you guys will take this idea and tweak it. I'm not an amsteel pro like some on here so there may be a better way to go about it that I didn't think of.

I definitely want to try to make some bigger loops for extreme cold weather boots. The hollow core gives you a lot of options with material.

Yep you can easily make whatever size loops and step spacing you want. Amsteel is a wonderful invention ain't it?! :D

That's my conclusion too after this past season. They never laid right and always closed up or twisted. I wasted a lot of webbing. I would be ok with 2 steps but anything over that I didn't like much.
Man that looks nice. I tinkered with a multi step aider using tubular webbing but it really wasn’t for me. Too much fishing my foot around to find the loop hole. I’m tempted to try this out though....

I like a one step aider but multi step was difficult especially wearing big rubber boots.
