TURKEY TURKEY TURKEY

Anyone else planning to take one from their saddle on ground level this season? I may even tote my Predator and use it as a tree seat...close enough to count as a saddle kill in my book!

My only plan is to use my jx 3
All the turkeys killed in the spring we’re from a guidos web sitting close to ground level with a big tree for cover

Does any buddy else hunt turkeys with a bow or crossbow. It's a blast . I use Bullhead broadheads from Magnus they are for heads shots. If you shoot a turkey with one of this broadheads in the head the don't go far.

I do usually, but I have a new bow in layaway and I sold my other bow so I'm having to tote the 870 super gobbler

Killed a few both with and without a blind. Shot most before looper broadheads were popular so fixed blades and expandables In the vitals did the job.

I only bowhunt them . Killed quite a few with muzzy and Slick tricks before switching to Magnus Bullheads. With Magnus they drop as soon as you hit them they are for head and neck shots so when you hit them there's no chasing.

Those three birds were no where near as close as they look in the first pic. I had to leave at 1500 and I hadn’t heard anything so I got up from the corner of the field right behind the birds in the first pic. I went to make a prospecting loop back to the truck and as soon as I passed the bend in the road beyond that field I called and the fools gobbled right in front of where I had just left....

I moved back as close to the field as I dared, but they crossed the field diagonally and didn’t come down the road to me like I had hoped.

This is how far it really is....

I’ve never thought of that. I bet injected with Cajun butter would be awesome. Thanks for the idea.
Your welcome. I have injected them with Cajun butter and garlic butter and get yourselve a good Cajun rub . They tasted awesome.

This morning was awesome!! Where I hunt is bow hunt only by rule not law. I usually hunt turkeys from a few different ground blinds but this morning the birds were way off so decided to move closer and try to use brush for cover. It almost worked. Had birds gobbling all around and finally a huge one committed. He hung up for bit around 60 or 70 yards. At that point, knowing my turkey calling can be suspect, I went quiet. He cut the distance to about 30 yards and let out a thundering gobble. Sounded like he was in the bush with me. I should have drawn while he was behind a dirt mound but I missed the opportunity. He busted me at 20 feet just before he started to strut. This was the first time I've successfully called in a tom with a mouth call and I learned a ton on this hunt so I can almost call that success even without a kill. What a morning!! Will be back out trying to roost birds this evening for tomorrows hunt
