Tethrd Phantom

Trying to get a patent on a rope knot is about the equivalent of trying to patent the process of butthole bleaching

Come on....really?

My kestrel Flex has an adjustable bridge with a prussik
Voila!
From the factory
I’m all For innovation but when do we say stop on the red tape and nonsense
After all the mantis looks like a kite copy anyways ? Marketing and patents go a long way I guess
I’m not hating but at some point the nonsense gets to be too much
I’ve invented something and will release it when a patent is pending but it’s new and no one else has made it yet.
I’m sure people will hack it but it will cost the public as much to make one as it would be to buy one from me.

The mantis came out 8 months before the kite.....

I like the high medium and low notches. Already thinking about how I could make these on my current saddle, wouldn't take much, maybe two small pieces of rope wrapped around and tied to make three distinct sections....
Or the traction belt from a lone wolf hand climber sewn into the tubular webbing.

Ontario Farmer has tried just about every saddle ever. He says the JX3 is BY FAR the most comfortable followed by the flex. He no longer even uses his mantis.

I like that Tethrd has listened to hunters about the lack of comfort. Time and truth go hand in hand and I expect this saddle will be better than the mantis. I trust the comments from many of the testers
The bridge looks cool and I wish there was a way to try a saddle before we buy.
There has often been a lot of hype with new saddles and time and trial is the only way to know.
Saddles are still like jeans. A lot of personal subjective feelings in the butt as to whether a saddle is good for me

I hope and expect this saddle is better than the mantis because
the tethered guys deserve it for how they have contributed to saddle growth.
All saddle companies should be thankful for their marketing efforts They have all benefited from this marketing
All the hype and marketing will benefit all saddle hunters in the end. More used product for guys on a budget. Greater economy’s of scale. Lower costs and prices eventually. More and more innovation.
Greg and Ernies efforts will help all saddle hunters in the end

I would love to see a "blind taste test" done at Saddlepalooza and other gatherings. Let some newbies or less seasoned guys sit in the various saddles without them seeing which is which and rank them from top to bottom on comfort and report the results on the site. It would be far from scientific, but may open some eyes around here too. Let the asses speak!

@JoMat best I can say is just sit in one. I didn’t see a video that said the comfort channels replaced adjustments of tether height. They replaced the micro adjusters on the mantis and similar adjusters on the aerohunter kestrel and kite. When you switch from one setting to another there is no doubt you feel a difference.
Game Changing is not my favorite term and it gets used a lot. I guess if you’re using a game winner steel climbing stand it would be a game changer for sure. If you’re in an evo and can’t figure out how to adjust it and can’t get comfortable it could be a game changer. If you have any other saddle and don’t find it comfortable and you found comfort with the phantom that allowed you to sit longer and move less I could even consider that a game changer.
If you are currently using a saddle that you are comfortable in and happy with it is at best a saddle that may or may not have features that you will appreciate over what you have now. The marketing is mainly for the guy that has heard of a saddle but is on the fence about trying them.

Hey I’ll volunteer for this. I’m new to saddle hunting. Like REALLY new. Never sat in one. But I see the advantages and I’m buying into it piece by piece. Only thing left to buy is the saddle. Really taking in everything being said here

I suspect for seasoned guys comfort is going to be a matter of degrees between newer models and more dramatic from older ones.

For new guys a one size fits all saddle is appealing for many reasons, or at least it would have been for me when I first started out saddle hunting, though I wear never in between sizes so never really had an issue finding one that fit.

As for new features and things being patented.... be happy there is innovation and creativity in this extremely niche market. Things have gotten so much better in the last few years from all of the players in the game. Be thankful and grateful to have the choices you do have. It wasn’t that long ago (5~ years) there weren’t ANY companies who had a production hunting saddle on the market...

Great time to be a saddle hunter! Vets and noobs should be thankful!

I think all new saddlehunters should try to make an event and try as many saddles as they can. I’m not sure they should be blindfolded. There is more to test than just comfort. Walking in it, putting it on, and comfort are all important. The comfort part is tough to test. If it sucks after 15 minutes it’s going to suck no matter what but the most comfortable one after 15 minutes won’t necessarily be the most comfortable in three hours. If they are new to saddle hunting nothing is probably going to feel great after three hours.

People seem to go nuts about patents. If you ever do want to do some reading go read some of the bow and crossbow patents that are out there. They literally have just about everything patented.

Here is 10 points patents. Go google the number and read some of them. For example they have a patent on a narrow crossbow with large powerstroke. When you look at it you wonder how they could patent that.

Patents are just the way the business world works. If you don't get patents then everyone will just copy your good ideas and you won't make money on all the R&D that you do.

Also people wonder why some products cost so much. Some of that is because they are using other people's patents and are paying money for the use of that patent. That happens alot. For example Tenpoint owns the reverse draw patent on crossbows. Any other company out there using a reverse draw has some type of agreement with Tenpoint.

I am just thinking about blindfolding people that the saddle hunting community is trying to convert over. Hey come here and try this saddle with all of these ropes and contraptions hanging on it. We really want you to try it and like it, but we need to blindfold you while you do it, so that we can settle once and for all what company has the most comfortable saddle. Don't worry you will be fine and safe. At the end let's have the rappel for the first time blindfolded too so we can determine the most comfortable method of descending. LOL.

Yes and don’t worry I’m not groping you I am just making some adjustments for your comfort.
