Tethrd Phantom

Haven’t used the phantom but low leg straps pull on my pant legs In the mantis for example. I used the lower hook up once climbing and in the tree but the waist for the walk in.

Got ya, that makes sense. My experience with the Mantis was the same. The Phantom is significantly different when it comes to the leg loops, I hook them up when I put on the saddle and they stay that way till I take it off. Doesn't matter if I am walking in or climbing or hunting. They don't bother at all like other leg straps, that includes the Mantis, I don't even notice them being hooked up at any point.

My apologies if this was mentioned before, but is this bridge easily removable? Just wondering because if you had some holes in something like an HBS it would be nice to be able to feed it thru.

The entire bridge or just one side? It’s spliced in on both sides as is. If you wanted it removable on one side so you don’t have to step through it you could easily diy a new continuous loop prusik out of the same size amsteel as their prusik and just use a carabiner to attach it to the bridge loop. I’ve actually done that to mine already for some testing. I did not cut the other prusik loop off yet though. Want to try it for a bit to see how I like it best.

Yes would like to have one side removable. Thanks for the info.

Actually from reading another post here if you undid your stopper knot then couldn't you feed it out of the prussik and then feed it back in and retie the stopper knot? Any reason why that wouldn't work or is the stopper knot not able to be undone? Before anyone gets on me about this I would do this while using my linesman rope as a temporary bridge.

I would not advise that method. Tedious to do, even more so 20ft up while wearing the saddle. The prusik legs (that what I call them) are short so that you can cinch the bridge down really tight but also allows the bridge to rotate through your tether biner further to the side (not sure if that makes sense). Those legs are short and not super easy to feed the bridge through the prusik. Once you get your hands on one you will see what I mean.

Gotcha. I will say that I am not going to upgrade my Mantis, but I have a feeling I will at some point. LOL. It would be cool if one side was removable. I am planning on modifying something like an HBS this year to use with a saddle and being able to remove one side of the bridge to feed it thru would make the modifications easier. Got a couple of ideas in modifying the HBS so that it would be able to be used with fixed bridge. COuld also just attach a 2nd removable bridge for those times when it is cold enough to use an HBS.

A stopper knot is just tied in . It's a simple knot to tie. Look on You Tube to see how to tie one . I have them on all my saddles tied in the end of the Samson Predator rope. I only use Samson Predator rope.

No leg/crotch loop interference? That alone, sounds like a winner! I used to have a TrophyLine Ambush saddle and currently hunt with a Kestrel. I'm 50/50 walk-in/pack-in, but when I walk-in I don't hook up my leg loops until I get to the tree. The extended lineman's loops are an added bonus as well.

I'm going to go to an outdoor show in March and take the Phantom for a test ride.
The Phantom is said to be available in February; Does anybody know if they will be available to purchase at these shows?

Not following the leg/crotch lip interference. What is interfering? I always use my leg loops with no issues.

This is one instance where even paracord would be an acceptable substitute.
Yup! you would have to play with what diameter gave you the best results. I'm thinking paracord would be too small. I'd say 3-5mm would be where I would start.

I’m definitely getting one, it would be very helpful to have my Mantis be something I let my buddies who give me hard time about saddle hunting try out on a hunt

I'd think a series of overhand knots on some 3mm accessory cord inside some tubular webbing would do it.
It would work. If you googled diy slinky weights it may give you some ideas.

If I have the leg loops on loosely walking in, it limits my thighs to climb over dead falls, etc. If I have them on tight to avoid this issue it is just plain uncomfortable.
