The sage speaks and the people listen. Long live the Kyle!evo is comfortable because it’s heavy. Rock climbing harnesses are not comfortable for hanging because they’re light.
I think you could shave a half a pound maybe a pound off the evo, and keep most of the comfort And functionality. Seems like what you fellows are after.
minimal saddles are comfortable enough for gritty folks. That premise, and the voiced opinion of said gritty folks, is the key to the marketing success. They’re marketed to people who think they’re hardcore lightweight mobile run and gun people, and those that want to be in the cool crowd. They make no material difference in Success, total comfort, setup time, or work done to get in/hunt/get out of about 75% of the people who buy them.
The evo would be an excellent choice for 90% of people who sit most of the time. The new khunert thing, or any of the battle belt stuff, or any lower back strap type sling will be an excellent choice for people who lean 90% of the time. The marketing trick is convincing the majority of folks in the middle they NEED a minimal saddle and it will do everything they want, and make them kill more deer. Might as well put a pretty girl in one to sell them. Same thing.
don’t forget, the evo was designed by people who work in trees for a living. They know what ittakes to be comfortable and functional up there. The idea that aero hunter didn’t or doesn’t listen to hunters’ needs, and that’s why the new saddle companies exist, is hogwash. They knew what would actually give people what they were looking for when making the evo. The kestrel wasn’t pumped as the end all be all answer because they assumed it would cater to truly hardcore minimal hunters who don’t mind being a little uncomfortable. Maybe I’m wrong, but my hunch is the kestrel wasn’t intended to phase out the evo. The market got turned on its head.
It’s fun to watch everyone get creative though, because it allows us to see some of the stuff that transcends marketing propaganda.
keep it up fellers! Make me a light evo! Until then, I’ll just keep sleeping in my hybrid...

The AH Kite is pretty underrated in my book. I found the comfort and stability you are talking about in this saddle. I have been one sticking, rappelling, DRT, and SRT Climbing with it with no issues.I definitely agree with this! I feel that i found saddle hunting at the exact moment when the
I only knew about the kestrel and mantis (or diy sitdrag) but you dont know what you dont know. I bought a lightweight saddle for the walk in and now but fing myself searching for a saddle that has: stability onesticking up and comfort for the sit and rappelling down.
@Red BeardThanks @skyjacker. With the H150 belt they're selling it comes to ~$115. That's about $40 cheaper than other places for the E220 package.
@smcchevy We're standing by for your detailed report.
Man... Now what do I have to sell to afford this?
Right on. Thank you sir.@Red Beard
Looks like @skyjacker bought some too
I'm gonna try them this season, but they aren't much more than a backband for the legs. I tired them at ground level and it was some fiddle factor. View attachment 30905
So, after messing with this and playing with the ones we just came up with, I realized this aint for me. The only thing I liked about the leg loops was how they made sitting even more comfy, but not enough for me to feel like I wanted to carry them around for that purpose. I dont feel like, agian, for me, they added any value to climbing (one sticking/multi stick and rappel). If I do run into a situation where I feel like I need a little more support under my legs while climbing, Ill use my back band. Not nay-saying this at all! I think it will be awesome for the SRT/DRT folks. How about making the DIY leg loops bigger and better for less thigh pressure? @always89y , ultralight saddle?

The whole reason there are so many options now are because there is no one saddle for everyone. Everyone is searching for the end all be all and if they find it well guess what something new is right around the corner. This is filled with gear junkies and diy guys and nothing is good enough for these people, I should know because I’m both.
Anyway, let me know when someone figures out leg loops for the recon. Lol
