Hunting Hoody

I considered the Asbell hoody but everything I read said the Asbell stuff offers no wind protection at all. That was a deal breaker for me.
Seriously though, I know nothing about wool. It doesn't cut the wind? Why is it touted as the bees knees then? How does it keep you warm?

Felt like a goob after explaining why I want something else just after saying my Nomad Cottonwood top was a keeper. Had to go put it on and shoot a bit. Now I remember why I don't like it... at full draw, the string of my stickbow pulls up into the armpit of the jacket and causes a left POI from POA.

Never had that problem with a wheelbow.

It's easier to get a decent wheelbow than a good Trad hoodie.

i only wear hoods in the rain, they cut down on my peripheral vision too much

instead, i wear an ear flap hat and a neck gaiter most of the season

I just ordered the last Anorak jacket for like 30% off from Midway. I've been looking for good wind blockage at a reasonable cost and was going to go with huntworth. Luckily I stumbled across this thread and that Anorak looks pretty perfect. Just wish they offered more patterns. Hoping it's not as bulky as some make it sound , but if it's as warm as I'm hoping I can probably live with that, especially at the pricepoint. I'll check back when it's in.

After 11pages...gotta ask...

Why a hoodie, why not a jacket?

Pass through pocket

You can get that in a coat.

Honestly, the question was mostly in jest, but I did start to think on it some.

I came up with three advantages to Hoodies
1. Slightly less heat loss due to (not having) full length uninsulated seam (zipper).
2. Design facilitaes pass through pocket
3. Have a hood
* Often made in longer lengths (anorak style) which could be beneficial for those who don't wear bibs

Drawbacks of a Hoodie
1. Slightly less ventilation when needed
2. Harder to put on in some situations
3. Longer lenghts don't contour as well when seated (bunch up)
4. Have a hood

Just my personal reason for why I like em, not why they’re better. When it’s real cold I just wear my sanctuary jacket.

It is a good reason. I have used a Fanatic jacket with the pass through pocket for many years. I don't like gloves and the hand warmer pocket lets me get away with cut offs most of the year. No extra hand muff to pack.

Personally, I don't really need a hunting hoodie. I think functionally I prefer a coat, and I have a hoodie (that I posted) that's as warm as my Fanatic jacket. Yet here I am looking at Swazi. Why?

The #1 reason for buying sh** you don't need...it looks cool.
