Hunting Hoody

Were it not for shipping and duty, I might be cajoled.

Just for browsing, I've been getting emails for all the Swazi discounts and sales.

Too bad I'm an XL or I could have the ultimate in Bill Belichick outerwear...

Size M might fit you though, lol.

“the Fed says I'm here to work, but I'm not about to suffer for it.” -> what’s with the wheelbarrow?

It is a good reason. I have used a Fanatic jacket with the pass through pocket for many years. I don't like gloves and the hand warmer pocket lets me get away with cut offs most of the year. No extra hand muff to pack.

Personally, I don't really need a hunting hoodie. I think functionally I prefer a coat, and I have a hoodie (that I posted) that's as warm as my Fanatic jacket. Yet here I am looking at Swazi. Why?

The #1 reason for buying sh** you don't need...it looks cool.

late to the party but that dude doesn’t look “cool” he looks cold. Lol

I was disappointed with the Wooltimate, I got colder in it then my under armor stuff.

Neck gaiters are clutch. They keep so much heat in, and cold air out. I wear one skiing but never brought one hunting. I know it would keep me very warm but I wonder how it would affect my bow shooting.

It says the sleeves are shortened but doesn’t say why?

I wish I could fit in a medium so I could wheel around firewood in my underwear like they suggest it be used for.

This company is a trip. At least he had his underwear on...

You ain’t lying, they have some awesome names and descriptions lol

I don’t think my wife would appreciate this but I know if I got it for her I would get a kick out of it

Dang it @Red Beard, I’m starting to dig that Nahanni shirt. It’s growing on me. I like that they have some original looking designs. Anyone know of any US companies doing similar things?

I just picked up one of these, says it’s windproof and dwr which for a product designed for ice fishing I bet it is. Once I get it I’ll report out.

Picked up one of these on sale:
So far I’m really liking it. I didn’t buy it for hunting but it could easily be worn for hunting. 40gm of primaloft is perfect for layering, I usually run it with a light thermal type piece underneath and it’s perfect down into the 40s. They claim it’s wind and water resistant, I can tell you it is wind resistant for sure, haven’t tried it in rain yet. First thing I did was remove the hood cinches as they were pissing me off and I don’t need to cinch it down that tight anyhow.

Here’s another hoody for your consideration:
It does repel light water and it’s also fairly wind resistant. I paired it with the above anorak today in 30 degree blowing snow here in VA and I was dry and warm. It’s not super thick but it’s very densely woven material with the repellant coating which helps retain heat.

So I wish I had found this long ago. The grey part is windproof and the entire piece has 80g of thinsulate insulation. The sleeves have a cool feature where the last inch or so a flexible neoprene type material which hugs your wrists and which I assume is meant to get wet when reaching into fishing holes but works well also for those of us with long arms. It layers well, the sleeves allow for a lighter layer but not too bulky. A vest fits perfect underneath. I’m contemplating removing the red stitching, haven’t decided yet.

We have a new contender!

I love wearing a warm hoodie in my saddle. It keeps me warm. I feel like a squirrel in my saddle nest. Lol

FL is now pricing their stuff just below sitka so they can tout they are cheaper. They lag in innovation so I guess they can’t charge as much lol.

I've often pondered this while in the saddle. A hoodie would work for me probably 75% of the season. Closest I've come to one is either legendary whitetails or scentlok. But even those don't half zip and are missing features. I contacted scentlok and asked them if they'd consider making one for saddle hunters with side zips and they responded that they liked the idea but there wasn't enough demand

I emailed FL earlier this year suggesting a vest with a hoodie they said they would run it up their flag pole. I mostly need my core kept warm and less bulk in my arms etc so I wear a vest over layers but vests don’t offer head warmth

There are options.

Buy a hoodie or hooded jacket and cut the arms off. :)

Order a vest from day one camo and get a button-on hood.
