Tethrd One Sticks Gen 2

At work, but I can show you they can do pretty well with some mods.
Unfortunately I made one small mistake when I cut down my original heliums that greatly affects their stacking. The mini's are just too small of a step distance for my liking but maybe I'll learn to like them!

I don't understand the hate for the Helium. It's the only stick I use now and it never failed!

Used it that morning left it on the tree, went to lunch climbed up hunted that afternoon and on the climb down this happened…. Cause the stick to kick way out and give me a nice little scare! Thank goodness for my lineman’s rope that JRB says doesn’t stop falls. If it weren’t for it I would have went straight to the ground. I haven’t used anything hawk since

Where the hell are all these guys? They all have accounts here and should be on here talking to us. Jfc this business wouldn't exist if not for this website.
I gotta be honest, I like those guys as people, especially since I interacted with all of them here before the business explosion, but the "radio silence" is pretty bothersome, and I tend to agree with this statement.

Like I just posted in another thread, the first Hawk Helium sticks are hands down the best climbing stick out. I have put mine through hell, they stack great and fit as 3 along the side of my pack. Anything single step blows, you can cut the hawks and customize the size. $80 for 3 not $500 for a 3 month wait, then a recall hopefully before the potential sodomy.

I’ve seen a few sticks and stands where it seems just one two ounces at most, of material left in the design, would put me more at ease.

Alright so I came home from work and grabbed my three to inspect and test on the tree. On one of my three sticks the pin wasn't even on both sides. I used a brass draft and hammer to level it front to back.

If part of the step is only supported by 3/4 of the pin to hole ratio maybe that's the problem? Two of the others were as expected.

I stood on all three at ground level post fix. I'm 210 right now. I don't think I'm sending mine in.

Did you see the picture from the failed stand off in the thread a few pages back? It didn’t appear to have much to do with the pin, the whole standoff fractured.

It looked to me like it first cracked out on the front hole and then led to failure of the entire step. Their recall suggests something similar too. I looked high and low for a crack on mine. Interestingly enough the pin not being centered through it all was on one stick only... and it stuck out the back with half the hole in the front having no pin. If the pressure cracked it there the failure would be exactly like I think I am seeing. I pounded it back from the back side to the front.

Heres one thing I dont understand in this design. They give you this little button at the bottom to wrap the amsteel around. Its held in by what looks like a bolt unless Im missing something and the bolt runs through the pin.

That entire standoff is one piece, if it fails its definitely all failing. Id really like to know some more insight instead of it being so vague. I may sleep on it and send them back who knows but im not scared at the moment.
