When do Antlers start?

I saw a deer in the road on my way to scout and as “he?” Ran off I thought I saw nubs on his head. Have the antlers started growing? If so, anyone know when they generally start? I am in KY maybe it varies for colder locations i dunno.

Ky is a big place. North up by Cin. May be alot different then south alogthe TN border, IDK. I have not seen a deer in weeks. The crops have not been planted yet.

I think they start growing back as soon as the old ones fall off.

Saw one turkey hunting yesterday in Indiana. He came within 20 yards, so I got a really good look. His nubs were about 3-4 inches long and we're just starting the first fork on each side.

From the research I have done They start growing almost immediately , or within a few days.
i have seen bucks holding antlers all the way to late spril

I keep cams out year round. I start seeing nubs about mid April. I got a pic 2 days ago with new growth at the ear tips and starting to fork

A few years back, while turkey hunting, I had a buck come through first week of May that was already 6 and had a couple more nubs. Funny thing is I had 4 cameras on that property, trophy rocks, and corn and never saw that deer again.
