Show Us Those Hunting Bikes

Had been considering one of those little carts to pull and that thought went right out the window. Actually didnt even use the bike for 2-3 more years. Walking works. Period.
I was looking pretty hard at a longtail conversion kit for a mountain bike instead of a trailer. I never wound up pursuing either, but someone interested in adding hauling capacity to a bicycle (whether muscle or electric) might check out longtails instead of trailers.

Hypothetical question.....let's say u planning on heading in far and hunting all day long out in an area u biked into........what "extra" stuff are u hauling in the bike other than ur traditional hunting gear u would have on ur person if u were just walking
No difference here. Several of the places I hunt are a 1.5-2.5 mile bike in on nice gravel roads. I prefer the 10-20mins ride vs the 45-1.5hr walk, mainly because I can’t be bothered to get up early enough to get in the woods way before daylight so I wouldn’t make it walking an hour on top of my normal walk through the woods. I carry the same gear I would as if I was walking in. For all day hunts I will bring extra food but that doesn’t make a difference on my bike set up. I wear my pack and my bow goes on my handlebars. I don’t fool with a trailer or basket or anything else. It’s just a bike.

I got a rear rack with a milk crate zip tied on and a surplus butt pouch attached to that. The butt pouch is water proof and I was thinking of putting a tarp and hammock in there for if I wanna take an afternoon nap but not ride all the way back to the truck. Also planning on keeping a set of rain gear in there and maybe extra flashlight for blood trail....ive used my bike previous seasons but this coming season will use more....u gotta have the weapon rack. Sucks riding and holding ur bow or gun

These look sweet. But pretty expensive.
There was an Italian gas-powered scooter like that. Piaggio, maybe?

ETA: there still is. Piaggio MP3. I saw one at a motorsports shop in 2008, maybe. I wonder how tough it would be to swap a junked gas engine on one for an electric. Could strip the Tupperware off and end up with something like a tadpole Honda Ruckus.

I had my bike all decked out but then the bow/gun holder arm things weren't gonna work on my handlebars....hers has the baby trailer bracket on it too so technically I could use that but don't plan on it. I've always carried the weapon before and it works but sux after a while

Not having to step over the center bar is nice....the places I got quotas for this year have good limestone road systems so easy riding into the areas I ditch the bike and take off on foot

My bike is a pedal only version and I carry exactly nothing extra. Second time I used it, I was a couple miles in and got back to the bike and realized both tires had holes and were flat. Had been considering one of those little carts to pull and that thought went right out the window. Actually didnt even use the bike for 2-3 more years. Walking works. Period.

For anybody thinking of biking to their hunting spots. Get a bottle of Flat-Out for $20 and fill up your tires with it. Works great. I ride straight through pricker bushes and all kinds of crap. never had a flat.

For carts, the hawk crawler works great. (i hate hawk but this thing actually is a good design).

I'm stealing my wife's bike this hunting season.....why are women's bikes more suited for men?

Idk about more suited for men? All my buddies that ride bikes to hunting spots and including myself have bought cheap or stolen for free our wives female bicycles. I thought they did a great job, that was until I got an actual mountain bike. By all means ride what you have, that’s what I’ve done for years. It will get you there, and you won’t know the difference if you never try anything else. But, it won’t get you there as fast, as easy, or as comfortable as a proper mountain bike. My bike has xl tires which aren’t quite fat tires but pretty close and to me they are a perfect balance of comfort and speed. It does well through mud and sand as well as gravel roads and anything My dad rode the female bike and then switched and rode my mountain bike. Needless to say I was stuck riding the female bike all weekend and I was gassed. If you ever get a chance to pick up a mid range mountain bike for cheap and you use a bike for lot of your hunting season, it’s worth it to me.
PROs are they’re cheap, have big cushion seats (sometimes), and then have the low bar which makes hoping off and on easier if you got a bunch of hunting gear on.

I don't know dude....I've had plenty of mountain bikes..nothing real fancy...but better than Wally world quality....I'm not sold on the frame design being much different other than ur posture and the nutt racking bar. Water or mud I'm probably getting off and walking it anyway...I've crashed too many times and know better. Wider tire ==better floatation but on the flip side wider tire =more rolling resistance. On a hard packed dirt road I'm not sold on wider being better

I have 3 in wide 29nr tires right now, and have ridden a trek fat bike. I'd never conisder a bike a true off road vehicle. All it takes is a little speed and mud hidden under leaves or worse a stick at 45 ° angle hidden under foliage and that's that. I keep to hard pack trails for the most part. I'm fine with getting in a crash, but my bow/Xbow and most of all my Weatherby rifles aren't

Her bike I sir more straight up and down vs leaning forward on mine....that also I tiny nod in the girl bike direction IMO ...

Good gearing makes a huge difference too but thats more of a cost than a male or female bike difference. On any condition I prefer my mountain bike over the female bikes I’ve road in the past. Like I said it’s not a fat tire and it’s not a skinny tire. That said there’s about a $700 difference in quality. Also I’m not short so racking myself hasn’t been an issue. Enjoy your wife’s bike, try not to bend the rim like I did. She said she was upset but i also know she never rides it either so it wasn’t a big deal
