2023: Tethrd Ultralock Saddle (Formerly, the LockDown)

I’ll be going with ONE Sticks clipped on to the molles below the pouch with some G3D clips to carry them horizontally on my hip.

Do you guys who have the saddle and are not @Reagan H. or Tethrd vendors think this will work? Or will it pull the pleat open? It's too hard to see what's behind there without one in hand because the pouches obscure so much of the saddle.

Looking at mine, I don’t see how it would pull open the pleats.

Whatever is in the pockets doesn’t bear weight in the lower band of the panel.

The more I tinker with the Lockdown, the more I like it. I’ll say it again, the pouches are a home run, and my initial assessment of the size of the panel and pleat were WRONG. This saddle wears and sits well. I was skeptical going in to it, and have been pleasantly surprised so far. And anyone who knows me, knows that I have been very outspoken regarding my feelings towards Tethrd. But … when somethings is good, it’s good. The Lockdown, in my opinion, is good.

Anyone in the Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia area … heck maybe even some parts of North Carolina, who wanna meet up and try out the Lockdown, I’m always up for a road trip and camaraderie.

Mike

I see now. MOLLE on the bottom of the pouch, not MOLLE below the pouch (aka along the lower hem of the saddle).

You can't see that MOLLE strip on the images on Tethrd's website, I see it in the pics by @ShooterMike and that explains it.

So …. My initial assumptions after just trying it on last night seemed to have been proven WRONG.

I’m at work today so I can’t spend the whole day in a tree, but I did get a chance to hang for a bit. With weight in the saddle, the pleat expands sufficiently and I felt as comfortable as I’ve ever been in my tried and true Method 2. The fitment of the regular size seems perfect for me at this point.

I like these pouches a lot. I’d say they hit a home run with them.

Semper Fi,
Mike
I really appreciate the detailed review and pictures along with the comparison to your method 2. I have the Method 1 and. Method 2 and love them. Those have been the two most comfortable saddles for me. I base my judgement on walking in and leaning. I lean 95% of the time.
Did you try walking in the saddle?

The only two complaints I had with the method were: 1. adjusting it after taking my weight out of it but I hadn’t added the adjustment straps yet. 2. The Tethrd SYS haulers flopped around too much on it. seems like the fixed pouches will solve that.

time will tell… I should have mine here in a couple days…. Thanks @enkriss

With suspenders it walks well.
