    Modify older Trophyline?

2007 leather "road trips" edition. The bridge doubles as a cinching waist strap for me too, so that might be all the convincing I need to leave it on there!

    Modify older Trophyline?

Haha - no man, that's good input too and I appreciate it! I'm brand-new to saddle hunting and all I hear about is modding this and tweaking that, & the first thing I realized is the factory straps they give you are heavy and bulky. If the factory bridge is usable I actually would prefer to keep...

    Modify older Trophyline?

Gotcha, thank you! I bought some 1" tubular webbing, so I think I'll run off about 8' of that to use as a tether with the Cobra buckle I bought. Thanks for chiming in, appreciate it!

    Modify older Trophyline?

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. The factory bridge is definitely sturdy, so if it's not too awkward to use I would definitely prefer leaving it on. Sounds like that's not an issue, though?

    Modify older Trophyline?

So I got my new (unused), older-model Trophyline a few weeks back. Knew right away I didn't want to monkey with the factory linemans belt and tree tether due to weight and bulk, so I picked up a Cobra D-frame buckle and some tubular webbing to make a bridge & tether. Got those things out the...

It's official - this MN guy is going with a saddle.

Awesome. I don't get out nearly as much as I'd like, so my ropes probably won't get super heavy usage anyway. Thanks for posting that picture!

It's official - this MN guy is going with a saddle.

I've read about issues with the ropeman 2 chewing up ropes due to the smaller teeth...are those concerns unwarranted?

It's official - this MN guy is going with a saddle.

Hi all, I think I lucked out. I found a brand-new (still in the unopened package) leather trophyline on CL for $150. I hope that's a good deal??? It's the one that says "Will Hunt For Food" on the saddle which is kind of mehhh in my opinion, but not the end of the world. I'll get a rope tether...

    DIY Kestrel is done!!

Maybe I missed it, but did you compile the (approximate) cost of all your materials?

    My platform prototype

Looks great, man! Kind of hard to tell from your first pics, but are you just using a strap with girth hitches to put it on the tree?

Is an older saddle worth it?

Yeah, good point. Just confirmed that I do want it, hopefully be able to pick it up next week!

Is an older saddle worth it?

Good to hear the other side of the story too, thanks for chiming in! The price is $150, which seems okay for an unused (literally unopened package) saddle, even if it is a bit older?
