anyone else see this? panther climbing platform

Just remembered why I'd tried the separate tether..... was given 100' of Sterling 6mm with Technora sheath & a F3 descender to rappel with. It was very compact, rated for around 1800 lbs best I remember, but I didn't want to hang all hunt off of that small stuff. I tried it out practicing & it...

anyone else see this? panther climbing platform

Using a separate tether instead of rappel rope was one of those "bright ideas" that after trying I thought, "what was I thinking".... definitely not my first. I'm one of these guys that over the last 15 years or so have tried about every type of climbing method I've seen, given up on some...

anyone else see this? panther climbing platform

Rappel is definitely faster by around 10 minutes... I've played around before with one sticking with regular tether on the way up & waiting to get on rappel rope until the hunt is finished. In doing so, while transitioning from tether with Ropeman One to rappel rope with Madrock; I was clumsy...

anyone else see this? panther climbing platform

My only frame of reference using a climbing platform for saddle hunting was a few years back with a modded LWHC. This does look like a good climbing option if a person wants one, but I'm not sure about packing rappel gear. The LWHC was so easy to ascend/descend with that I personally couldn't...

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

I think the flip up post to anchor to the tree once at hunting height on the LWHC would make for a decent setup. I've seen a few guys that have fabricated that. When I had used the hand climber I would secure it with a ratchet strap before I hunted, but I also always add a ring of steps. So I...

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

The "tether assist rope" would've been nice back when I was fooling with the Lone Wolf hand climber.

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

My hesitation to use any type of climbing platform is that I prefer to hunt out of trees that have limbs.

Thoughts on Broadside Stands climbing platform???

I just wanted to share this new climbing platform I saw today & get some thoughts about it. Looks pretty clever & I'm sure it will spark some more ideas.... broadsidestands.com

    Sladder by greyskwerel

I did have it on a larger power pole in the bag lot here at work & just wrapping it a single time it doesn't slide down the pole any. Don't have my linesman belt with me, but took a couple steps up & it was solid.

    Sladder by greyskwerel

I only had a little bit to tinker with the Sladder system yesterday after work. May have to wait until weekend to try a full climb, but will probably have to wait until after hunt tomorrow morning since it's the time of year to be in the tree. My "practice tree" at the house is a telephone pole...

Do you wear your leg straps

My first saddle was a Trophyline & back in 2006 leg straps were not adjustable (they were also 2" wide) & hung down low & were always hanging up on brush. So I chopped them off.... ever since then, every saddle I've bought I'd chop them off or every saddle I made I never put any on. When it gets...

    Sladder by greyskwerel

My Sladder should be arriving today.... looking forward to getting it on a tree & seeing if I can use it as effectively as greyskwerel. Over the years I've tried every climbing method I'm aware of except DRT (I've done some SRT & still pack my hand ascender when one sticking just in case I drop...

    Examples of dangerous carabiner loading

I'm a lot lower on the totem pole of linemen. I just worked for a few years as a lineman hanging coax & fiber. I'm still with the same cable construction company, but just work in the warehouse here now. I used gaffs when I started saddle hunting, but guess I'm gonna mostly one stick now...

    Examples of dangerous carabiner loading

Sterling is showing this as proper use of the carabiner. It is part of their emergency evacuation kit with the F4 descender; so it may not necessarily mean that it's made for this use daily, but perhaps for a single use emergency situation... Just thought I'd bring it up since I'd never heard of...

    Examples of dangerous carabiner loading

I don't know how I've never heard of this or why it isn't brought up frequently when talking about "carabiner cross/side loading".... I was watching a Sterling Ropes video & seen they have a carabiner that has a screw in bar that is made for rappelling/side loading. The video I saw it in was 12...

    The Wraptor

Just curious to hear from some of the OGs that constructed a Wraptor back in the day if it felt like the ESS or if it felt better/more adjustable? I was bored & in the mood to DIY so I was taking my ESS apart to play with & realized that it was all one piece of webbing sewn together & not 2...

    ROS VS PLATFORM

I'm all about my ROS. Platform is optional for me, but ROS is necessity. BUT... I started saddle hunting in 2006 & no one used a platform. My preset trees would be 3/8" bolts in the tree & mobile setup was sticks or cranford screw ins. Sorry, I know I'm replying to something a few months old...

Have anyone try 3/4 inch for sticks?

It’s held up fine and is now cut down to about 10”. I had Lone Wolf stand offs on it, but just ordered the EWO ones from Dan O!

Have anyone try 3/4 inch for sticks?

I actually have been playing with a 3/4” stick build this year and now have ordered Dan O’s double steps that he is now carrying for 3/4. Pic below is my stick I’ve been experimenting with next to a Hawk. I have been able to use a cam cleat on it as well
