    Thermacell and mosquitos lately

I have used thermacells for the last few years and don't bother to go hunting without one here in SC. Skeeters are crazy without one. The last few years they have worked great. This year, it seems that the skeeters don't care about the thermacell any longer. It may help a bit, but not like it...

    Sasquatch

We aren't supposed to have cougars here in SC but I have seen one from the climber slipping through the Switch Cane slipping up on some deer. It was unmistakable what I saw. Large cat (70lbs estimate), cougar brown color, tail as long as the body.

    Sasquatch

I have been watching Steve for a few years now, even before he started talking about Sabe. Not sure if you heard the audio of the screams outside a home about 2 months ago, but I heard the same thing in the woods 2 weeks ago . Nothing in the woods or manmade could sound like this. The volume...

    Who’s freaking pumped?

It's not that bad. 90 in the shade with a slight breeze isn't that bad. Just bring tons of water, thermacell, and snakeboots.

    Who’s freaking pumped?

We need the 2022 section opened. Deer season has started here in SC. Opening day was 15 Aug. Had my first buck out of the saddle; 7pt in velvet. Had a few does last season.

Hawk 20" 4 pack on sale at Sportsmans Guide

I had a similiar experience with a treestand. They told me I had to go direct with the company.

Hawk 20" 4 pack on sale at Sportsmans Guide

As of 8 Aug, a four pack is $107 for Buyers club. That would be free shipping too.

    Pigs near Charleston, SC.

I didn't think of using a 22mag or .17 during squirrel season so I can be legal for pigs. I can get 2 extra months to hunt pigs in the Francis Marion.

Poll - Distance from parking area you hunt

It depends where I am hunting. I have spots that are 30 yards from a parking lot, 300 yard walks, 1000 yard walks, and some that are 2 miles in.

    Aider question

I always wear snakeboots and I cannot ever get my foot into an aider. My foot bumps the rope and it will push against the tree every time. The loop was very wide and supported open with a fiberglass rod. I gave up on aiders.

    First 2 Sits:

I like that video and definitely useful when I was learning how to use the system, but that angle in the thumbnail looks like it would be in the way to draw your bow.

    First 2 Sits:

As for the pine sap, the platform really digs into the tree. I get sap on mine all the time since most trees here in lowcountry South Carolina is loaded with them.

Show me how you pack climbing sticks!

I am using four helium 20 inch sticks. I stack them in 2's, place the 2 sets beside each other and bind with 2 gear ties. I take one of the strap and wrap it around my hunting bag and reconnect to the versa button. Then tighten it down. They seem to stay in place pretty well.

Anyone using a turkey vest for their gear

I have been known to use a turkey vest if I am hunting from the ground during deer season. Which reminds me, I should do that tomorrow. Easy run and gun setup.

    What Am I doing Wrong

I was sore after the first time I went up high, about 18 feet. I don't like heights and I wasn't comfortable with trusting the ropes, carabiners, and Kong to hold me. Since I wasn't trusting it, my muscles were stiff since I was anxious. I was sore the next day because of it.

    Soreness...

I had some pinching but not soreness on my first 2 sits. Only when I would sit with my knees against the tree, the lower part of the saddle seemed to squeeze my upper thighs, lower hip, whatever that area is, lower butt, I dont know. But it would squeeze and be uncomfortable. This may be...

Hanging your gun while saddle hunting

Using the bridge helped make a steady shot when my knees are on the tree.

    Carrying handgun while in saddle

When I hunt, I usually bring a handgun with me, which is allowed here in SC. I normally carry IWB or OWB. I realized carrying this way would be near impossible in a saddle. How are others carrying while in a saddle that don't get in the way?

Hanging your gun while saddle hunting

I set it on my bow side which for me is on my left of the tree. I use the bow hanger clip kit from Tethrd attached to my HYS strap. Seems to work fine. The bow hanger didn't want to let go of my gun shoulder strap when I was about to shoot a doe. This would just some experience of using it...
