Whats up with the 'Sladder Climbing system"?

I absolutely love this response - thank you! Currently I use Wild Edge stepps with a knaider. And while I am very proficient with that method, and love how versatile and compact that system is, for me it is SLOW. It usually takes me 20+ minutes to be set up in a tree at 16+ feet. I know it's not...

Whats up with the 'Sladder Climbing system"?

Does anyone know of any YouTube videos demonstrating using the Sladder on a really crooked or leaning tree? Or perhaps how to navigate around or past multiple branches?

Thanks for the response! I'd be happy to hear from any one else who has similar/different perspectives!

Whats up with the 'Sladder Climbing system"?

I just learned about the Sladder a few days ago and have been closely following these threads, and I'm very interested. For the past 4-5 years I've been using WE stepps (6+1 on the backside of my platform), with a knaider that gets me 18+ feet. I feel like I'm very proficient with this system, I...

    Revisions to ur system

This is my 5th year saddle hunting, and always tweaked, upgraded, or modified a few things each year. I climb with Wild Edge stepps, now with a knaider, because I value their packability and versatility. Changes/upgrades I've made over the years included switching to the Predator platform from a...

    Tree Saddle Hunter Magazine………

I've listened to a few of the podcasts you've been on, and I'd definitely listen to more. You're a great spokesperson for saddle hunting, and I love hearing about what went into designing your saddles. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

    What’s the Hottest?

If you want a pleated single panel, with an adjustable amsteel bridge, definitely go with a Wood Deluxe. I just received mine, sat in it today for the first time, and couldn't be happier.

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

Ok guys, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who responded here, and especially to everyone who recommended the Wood Deluxe by @Fl Canopy Stalker. It's everything I was looking for in a new saddle: built like a tank, top-notch craftsmanship, VERY comfortable, easy to...

Enlighten a conversation I'm having with my wife... does anyone still hunt with a Tethrd Mantis?

This is where I was at up until a couple weeks ago, and then I started toying with the idea of upgrading. Yes, an adjustable bridge was essential to making the Mantis tolerable.

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

Thanks for the comment, and I must say, this discussion has totally changed my thinking. Not that a Cruzr would have been bad by any means - surely a huge upgrade from a Mantis. But someone in the forum said "fit and finish is king" or something to that effect. The comments about Wood Saddles...

Enlighten a conversation I'm having with my wife... does anyone still hunt with a Tethrd Mantis?

I told her I think I'm the last one... :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: And I just compared saddles to bras... I said to her, "Imagine you bought the very first commercially popular bra 4 years ago. It was marketed as the best, lightest, most comfortable.... game changing.... bra that was...

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

Thanks everyone for your well thought out information and advice. It's funny, because I've been a member here since 2019, but I'm certainly not very active. I just pop in now and then when I have a new idea or question, or a thought to consider. So it was easy for me to be TOTALLY IGNORANT of a...

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

One other question - Does the pleat stay closed while walking and when you don't want it open? This would be my first time with a pleated saddle, but maybe this was only a problem with the Flex.

Thank you! This is the kind of info I'm after in this discussion. I will definitely have a closer look at the Woods Deluxe.

Saddle recommendation: Talk me out of my irrational biases

Or to put it another way, talk me out of buying a Cruzr XC :) I think I'm one of the few who has stuck with a Tethrd Mantis since it came out in 2019. I upgraded it with a Cruzr adjustable bridge, which was a big improvement, but it's now time to get something new. I'm mostly a leaner, I...
