Tree Saddle Hunter Magazine………

Not every article needs to be saddle/mobile hunting specific. Fill-in articles about traditional gear, knives, backpacks, etc. would be appropriate. In fact, a regular column about backpacks (if well done) would probably be popular.

One caution: I quit reading several magazines when it became apparent their goal was no longer to inform and entertain, but simply to push the products of their advertisers. I understand the need to make money (why else publish?), but when the entire magazine, including the articles, is nothing but a push to buy certain products, I have no interest in it.

I still bounce around through subscriptions to Bowhunter, Bowhunting, and my regional Hawkeye. Still enjoy the print a little more than scouring the internet and sorting unbias info. I tend to put more trust in my magazines and feel more relaxed reading them than my phone or computer. I would definitely consider a Saddlehunter subscription. Id envision it obviously covering basics, techniques, new equipment and all but also would be articles describing average to "Pro" saddle hunts, kind of like NA Whitetails stories on all those monsters I'll never even see. As obvious from the insane amount of content right here, there is lot's to cover and still can cover bows, guns, bikes, deer, bear, pig habits, habitat, & strategies, on and on, but with an eye from the saddle.

Saddle Hunting is such a small component of the hunting industry. As it is, hunting magazines in general continue to have declining subscriptions. What used to be monthly editions have transitioned to bi-monthly. Even still, articles repeat themselves and subscribers loose interest.

I like the idea of a saddle hunting magazine, but not in a print format. I do recognize that some prefer print over digital; however, those numbers would not likely support the costs of print media. Printing and mailing is costly.

Podcasts…. That’s actually something we were discussing with the guys from Swamp N Stomp. Truthfully I don’t do much in way over marketing, as I’ve always preferred word of mouth to carry the day. But I see value in using social media, print media, or even podcasts to help that word travel. Thanks for the input
I've listened to a few of the podcasts you've been on, and I'd definitely listen to more. You're a great spokesperson for saddle hunting, and I love hearing about what went into designing your saddles.

Thank you for the compliment

Magazines are out and will never make a comeback….not even playboy.

YouTube, Rumble, and and a forum platform similar to this is the only way, imo.

Magazines are a long way from dead.

The reason I bought a Wood saddle was hearing you on a podcast. YouTube and Podcasts are hard to beat for information in today's world... In my mind, nothing competes with those two sources.
I appreciate that.

Apologies that I somewhat skimmed and this may be mentioned already, but too late to pivot to elevated hunting in general? Call the magazine canopy killers or something, and cover stands etc as well? Wider audience /would appeal to more eastern hunters. Have a "saddlehunters section" that keeps moving around in the magazine lol. Ok I'll see myself out...

Like I said, anybody that thinks a niche saddle hunter magazine can make it when one with naked women can’t is delusional. That’s just common sense. I can find a website to support anything if I look hard enough. It’s kinda like people that still pay for porn when it’s free online… why pay for a magazine when there’s so much content online.

Don’t see yourself out Dutch. I appreciate the feedback. I personally am not the one starting the magazine and I don’t have any control over what they plan to cover. I’m just trying to gauge what type of content you guys would want in the event that I do a guest column, and also since I’m considering running an ad.

If you write a guest column, my suggestion is don't just cover the basics of a large topic, dive deep into one specific area. Give the reader information they won't find (at least easily) from any other source.

For example, writing a column for beginners using a saddle, go into how small changes in tether height and bridge length affect comfort; not just that these things do affect comfort, but the geometry of it and the role gravity plays. Don't forget bridge position in the bridge loops. Dive deep.

I hope my crappy example gives you some idea what point I am trying to make.

I’m skeptical that there will be enough to write about month after month. It would take some glowing reviews on here to get me to pay for a subscription to be honest since I think we already have so much free info and discussion here

Actually that’s an excellent example of ways to help. Like true tech tips that go beyond your standard tether height between here and here videos.
