2 tether or die.

So I don’t see many people using 8mm and 6mm ropes for 2tether. Why is that? Are larger diameter ropes easier to work with? I only ask because I considered making a set specifically for 2tether. Thanks!
Stiffer rope will be easier to flip up the tree as you advance your tethers, also if your planning on using a loop of your lower tether for your foot loop, smaller diameter ropes will be pretty uncomfortable to stand on. I use a muddy lifeline, 9mm-ish, cut into two equal length tethers and with a blake's hitch forming my foot loop, I wouldn't want to go any smaller than that, I may move up to a 10mm rope at some point

I use 8mm and know a LOT of folks that do. Its a trade off. Larger is usually stiffer (stop it...) but bulkier.

I use 9mm civ(what I had when I started, and now 8mm resc tech and 6mm trc exclusively. It works so I haven't bothered to experiment with other ropes or combinations....
I do h!ve the 7.9mm ultratech I haven't used yet....hopefully this summer.

Yeah...sticks are dangerous

Hard to tell in text if u being sarcastic or what....it wasn't a stick that hurt him. U either aren't being truthful or haven't climbed enough trees if u haven't had a tether slip/slide cause of a knot on the back side u couldn't see or a big chunk of bark breaking and allowing rope to slip a little. Or maybe ur type of trees are inherently safer in the blacktail woods....Hahaha

Maybe it seems I'm attacking 2tc but I promise I'm not....advancing a tether up the trunk is what I don't like..1 stick, 2tc the same, zip tie or 3d printed handles... in my eyes...a method u gotta advance a tether up the trunk just isn't for me...

do what makes ya feel good

There you are my dude.i knew you would respond if i trolled.your one of the funest conversationalist.i think the trees bark out here are suitable for 2tc.compared to other places possibly.i thought the moss might be a problem but even wet it wasnt yet.it is new to me so with time i should hurt myself somehow.but i still love it.

If u guys can figure out a way to advance 2 tethers up a loblolly pine quietly and not knocking off a ton of bark I'm all ears
To go over some of the thick moss and knots i let out a little slack in the tethers then readjust.adds a couple easy movements to the prosses but the bark dont fall off here.i have only seen it on youtube.sounds loud compared to moss.climbin a tree in the blacktail woods sounds like chipmunks humpin.anything louder scares blacktail bucks away

You know i cant lie.im always attacking sticks.the majority of saddle hunting and stand hunting ijurie stories starts with the words my stick kicked out on me.never had that Problem with single steps.shure its more straps but no stick to hurt yourself with.every stick should have an extra single step you can stand on for when it kicks out.a safety stepScreenshot_20211209-164534_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20211209-163957_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20211209-164634_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20211222-125327_Gallery.jpg
