2019 Helium Mods

Video is almost done. I modded the old version to work like the new version. I cut both down and they're great.

These are pics of the old version. I'll upload the 2019s soon.

Do you still plan on putting a video out on the 2019 mods? I was thinking about modding mine but am very interested in seeing what direction you took them before I get started.

Not really a mod, but I thought I'd snap a quick pic of how I attach them to my mantis. I had lone wolf's before and looped them with paracord, which was ok but they swung around some.

For the hellums I tried a small loop of cord through the molle loop, and attached a medium s biner to that. I then hook the stick through the hole in the tree bracket to the other side of the s biner. I am going to remove the gates on the lower parts also. And if you put the felt pads on to tighten the fit up you can carry 2 sticks snapped together this way.

Maybe I'll sell you the ones off the new set I just picked up. I don't like them near as much as I thought I would (the suction cups that is. The sticks I love).

They don't attach or hold quite as tight as demonstrated in the ATA video. Lots of wobble and forces the sticks wider apart than they need to be. I might remove mine and go with @DaveT1963 exercise pad mod with bungie's (which didn't come with set as advertised). One of the major benefits of this climbing system is how compact they pack.
Ditto for me!

Has anyone tried to mod out the old helium cam buckle straps to use w/a versa button. It doesn't look like you'd have to do much, There is a loop on one end opposite the buckle that could slip over a versa button and you could cut out the plastic snap hook thats closest to the buckle where there is a loop but its too small to fit over the versa button so you would need to slip a piece of webbing or rope through the loop and knot it to make a bigger loop. I'd like to re purpose what I currently have on hand.

I posted my 2019 video yesterday, not a lot changed from 2018
Thanks for the video. Good stuff. You have me wondering if I should go with my Amsteel ropes over the woven webbing. I don't have the problem you mentioned of getting the webbing off. What I get a little annoyed with is the loops not lining up correctly. Seems that I am frequently between loops. The stick still cinches down tight if I go with the next loop, but I don't like the idea of that much extra strap that could loosen up if the stick were lifted for any reason. Happened to me once and created quite a pickle of a situation!

I've practiced the twist method on the webbing but it seems to require a lot of twists to get that next loop lined up. It's not a deal breaker, just an annoyance. Funny how these little inconveniences can really bug us sometimes and send us searching for solutions.

I haven't in the way your talking but I did remove the buckle and just use the strap to tie a pretty easy knot at the versa button. @Nutterbuster did a video that explains how. It holds very tight after applying pressure to the stick
