Yes, the contest is limited to SH members starting from this season forward. Here is a link to the previous years rules, https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/2019-contest-rules.17594/, although they do change a little from year to year to adapt. The contest is all about having fun and friendly banter. This year we're going to try to include some small prizes for the winning team.
Im hoping they do not change that much. Seems to me like the biggest change has been the amount of posts. Every year they seem to be going up by 25 points. At this moment i do not have enough if they do, but im close enough that commenting a few more times will get me to that magic number

Why would they be going up every year in the total amount of posts just for someone to enter the group? Kinda seems like it is being oriented to keep the same group of people in and limit it for the new people. I remember years ago there was a thing here in Louisiana called Bayou Bucks that had a bruiser bowl, just like the nfl but hunting and was awesome, lots of friendships were formed throughout the years of this but there weren’t any restrictions that I can recall. Just seems janky to me if this is supposed to be such a friendly thing then why is it being restricted so dang much?

Ultimately, part of it is simply logistics. The more people, the more effort it takes to keep the contest results current. However, the main issue that has occurred in the past is that folks would come out of the woodwork only at signup time never to be heard from again. As you pointed out, it's about building camaraderie so there's some benefit to adding guys who are active here all year around or even at least during season.

That said, I'm not sure what @redsquirrel is considering this year. This is the first year that we've had paying memberships as a pre-requisite so all we all can do is await and see how it unfolds.

Makes sense, I myself am somewhat new to the site and have payed myself, just trying to understand everything going on and never really get any response on my questions. I hope to be able to join and would love to become part of the hunting group myself. How do you know if you meet the qualifications to join?

As I tried to say, somewhat unsuccessfully I guess, nobody actually knows that yet but Redsquirrel. He'll be posting the season's rules here shortly once he's finalized exactly what he wants to do. I'm not going to hazard a guess. You've already made the first cut, paying member (THANKS!) whether there will be other qualifiers is anybody's guess. My best advice is just stay active on the site, hang out and watch for the signup release.
