2024 Sheds and Deads

Found two of em. Both of them were located in the beds.

Saw a younger 8 pt that still had his headgear during my run though a local park today. I dont shed hunt a ton, but thought that was a bit late to still be holding em in Maryland? But I could be wrong.

Commonly holding halfway through March. I'd bet ~50% are still holding right now. Several years ago I had one on cam still holding in April

I don't have any cameras out this year but from past years I'd guess 80%+ have dropped by now at my end of the State. I'll get an occasional picture in March of a buck that is still holding.

One of the guys at our Finksburg site saw a nice 8 still holding antlers in late April last year.

I’m not aware of any bucks in my area that are still holding antlers, but I’ve got a few cams that remain unchecked for now. Last year 80% of the bucks shed before January 1. The rest of the bucks shed by the end January. But I got one random buck who held his antlers into mid March.
 
Well for the first time in probably 10 years, I made it to March without finding any antlers. With that said, I have normally walked a lot more than I have this year so it's not just that I'm losing my eye sight :) Two evenings ago, I had 5 bucks at my home deer feeder, 3 were still carrying and 2 had shed but where I do most of my looking, most bucks don't drop until March so it's time to start hitting it pretty hard

i still see lots of bucks holding into april here alot of years. Last year and this year have been warm winters. i think that delays it a bit but i dunno why for sure. Last year i saw a crazy amount of bucks holding through march. Ive only found one freshie and 3 old ones this season. and a decent dead head
