A happy start to 2024…. Puppies

Curious, which state were you running them in? I know some guys in Ga that run pigs and bear with them, but we don’t bear hunt in Florida (yet)…
West Virginia. Some of my best hunting memories were UKC hunts in Jr High and High School and coming back to an awesome breakfast at the meeting house and listening to some of the best hunters in my eyes of all kinds at the time telling their stories. Fun times for sure.

Tell her you get the “moderator discount”
Stop with that!! I seriously considered for a couple minutes what it would cost to run down & get one! I Love hounds!!!! We have 2 but they’re indoors & I’m not sure I can take 3 bonified hunting dogs in my living room……
I’ve also secretly wanted to get into coon hunting for years, my great grandfather & I used to go almost every night in the winter when I was in high school

There's big money in animal transport.....an old neighbor sold hog dogs all over the country. The transport guy had a long wheelbase 1ton van loaded down with dog crates and he would tell me about his job when I asked. He would run up and down the East Coast all year long shipping dogs and cats. Pee breaks took a long time

These are the right dogs for it! ;)

On a serious note, we are most likely selling them for around $800 to $1000 per pup. I hadn’t given it too terribly much thought as I wasn’t going to breed them until her next heat. When I bought her, no breeders wanted to sell a female with an open registration, then I sent a couple of them, my males pedigree… low and behold I got multiple pick of the litter options with breeding rights as long as they can get a pick of the litter female from her in return…. it’s weird how that works

Great looking dogs! How much do the puppies bay? I love seeing a dog work. I have used a tracking dog 2 times for deer. Each time I learned alot about how the deer were using the land. The second deer came from a spot that I discovered the first time I called on Roxy for some help. The first time the deer ended up being hit in the leg (all meat) and we stopped tracking after 600 yds the second time was 5 yrs later which was successful. I have pictures of the first deer the next year with a goofy rack on the opposite side from the leg that was hit. If you look at my avatar pic I have my arm around Roxy a great tracking dog . She found that deer 30 hrs after the shot which included 8 hrs of driving rain. We brought her to last blood and as soon as she crossed it she dropped her nose and was on the track and the deer walked up a stram for 20 yds. I have labs for upland birds and waterfowl.

A couple of them have already developed true bays and extremely loud at that. The rest are still working on growls, and light barking. Their father has the loudest bawl I have ever heard. Even my other hound owning buddies are jealous (our neighbors hate it though)

well those guys are adorable. I've never known hounds very much. My dad/grandma/great grandmother ran beagles and my great grandmother started the beagle club where I grew up way back in the early 1900's. We hunted over one or two when I was young and I love it, but small game hunting fell by the wayside. My dad and a buddy hunted raccoons before I was born (the buddy had coonhounds). But that's my exposure to hounds. I've always loved to sound of a big beagle running a rabbit- gradually getting quieter and quieter until the rabbit decides to come back to where it was jumped and it gets louder and louder and you finally get a chance to shoot it.
