I guess something good came out of being woke up by the baby at 2:30am. Was browsing on my phone and I noticed aero hunter put up the pre order for the Merlin. It’s for October but I got an order in.

That’s about the time that your will power to resist is at its lowest too lol. I woke up last night and saw that and almost pulled the trigger too.

I almost ordered, middle of the night, couldn’t sleep. Then remembered my kestrel flex, shikars, ridge runner, scout solo, mr popup 38/mule, rappelling kit, new predator ropes and biners, and finally having $0 balance on the credit card.

I’ll wait until after season. That is what I usually do, start ordering around early March. Then no stress waiting for the gear. This time of year a lot of hunters have their knickers in a twist with pre-orders, lead times and hunt trips. My new gear is ordered in March, here by May or June, set up and tested by July / August.

That said, it’s killin me to not place the order now. I hope I have the willpower to wait on this one.

I got an email from Areo Hunter saying that they were taking preorders. I really don't need another saddle I think 5 is enough. I was waiting for Areo Hunter to come out with a mesh Flex and knew it was going to be made but I couldn't wait any longer so I bought a Cruzr XC. I was thinking about selling my Kestrel size 2 because I only used it twice and one was to test it at ground level. I went back to my Guido's web and my Treesuit saddle until I bought the Flex. I think I will wait and see how the guys that buy the Merlin like it. I'm sure there will be some good reviews on it.

What do y’all think about the loop inside a loop set up for the leg straps? I like the looks of the Merlin but my old Flex is still working great.

For sure. A little ashamed to admit it but buying hunting/saddle stuff is one of my stress reliefs from raising 2 kids. Definitely have to keep that one in check big time.

Looking forward to hearing reviews and a breakdown of the new features. This is really the first new option that's come out that's made me even consider replacing my Kestrel.
 
For all you guys that will get one next month keep me updated on it. May have to add it to my gear list for next spring/summer.
