Yeah, saw that. These are made a little different. Same concept, just a couple differences.Soft shackles?
Anybody familiar with them? I've been reading up on them a bit this weekend, since Missus Buster told me I couldn't go play. I'm wondering if they cinch secure enough to use in lieu of a traditional locking carabiner? Seems like an easy way to eliminate biner-clink. If you were willing to use...saddlehunter.com
I like the button on that one. That could be good to incorporate into this fast shackle method with the pull tail and static loop. There are several variations to the soft shackle becareful which one you choose the button knot version failed several times in my tests ..... this is my preferred soft shackle

I was leery of that. But, it doesn't move. I have to unlock it to take it off.honestly that looks scary as hell... does it slip around when you unweight it? i would be so paranoid that it would slip out 30ft up
They use these for hammocks and even highlining. I was doubtful too until I used one. Even if you get slack in it, it doesn't work loose. I've shaken it around, and it doesn't come loose. And, I'm not one to take a lot of chances anymore since I fell when taking a stand down about 15 years ago. If a person does try it (at ground level first), I think a lot of doubts will go away.Idk if this is a legit thing for arborists or rock climbing, but if it isn’t, please use a carabiner. I’m cringing looking at that.. if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and if you’re worried about noise, wrap the carabiner with stealth strip or tape.
What did you find when you tested these? In practice this is like a non-locking carabiner with a relatively tricky closing mechanism. I really encourage people NOT to use these for life support where if they are not set up correctly then you will fall. Trimming a miniscule amount of weight and cutting back on one source of noise simply isn't worth that. I'd suggest one of the locking carabiners that weigh around 40 grams and then put something on it to silence it.
What happens if these get cross loaded? Too many what ifs.
I would consider an acceptable use of these anything where if they failed then you would still have your saddle or harness and tether to catch you.

This is a link to how it works, but to tie it, it's just a continuous loop with button knot. He has a couple videos on there about making a button knot. I used 35 inches of 3/16" amsteel to make mine.Do you know where I can get a video of how to tie the evo that use tried?
