Ar build

Are they? I was trying to figure out if it mattered or not. That was the best I could figure how they went from pictures I can find. I haven't got to shoot it yet. Been cold and snowy since I put it together. I'll flip them if they are suppose to face the other way.
The front sight doesn’t really matter as far as accuracy goes. There are reasons to mount the front sight backwards such as giving you more room on the top rail, making it easier to flip it up especially when gloved and if it doesn’t lock in place it’ll stay up easier especially when going through brush. As for the rear sight the diopter would be reversed so it won’t gather light as well and you won’t get the diopter effect but your line of sight and depth of field shouldn’t be effected so however you wanna mount them is up to you. If you aren’t using a diopter rear then even better. One of the most decorated snipers in the world used iron sights so there’s that.

Concerning the back up iron conversation. One can go either way. For a range or hunting rifle IMO they serve no purpose.
Range gun sure...but a hunting gun I have to disagree....I try and be careful with my stuff but it gets banged up, dropped, submerged in water, etc and not having a way to aim semi accurate if the scope/red dot/whatever was to get damaged/stop working is something I'd like to avoid

Sweet looking rig. Looks like you have the M-Lok handguard. I love that system. You can get anything to attach to it. I recommend the UTG "push" button sling mount for the front (M-Lok) and Daniel Defense front handle post M-lok. Great handle for "patrolling." Just allows you an alternative hold and carry option and is super light. Where you have that zip tie looks like the button for the rear sling would fit there. Have fun!!
Can u post a pic of this combination please?

I don't blame you for not wanting to go down the rabbit hole on figuring out which brands are better than others. The way around that is to pick a vendor that only sells quality kit. Brownells is one.

I've had Magpul steel BUIS, YHM, Troy, and Colt flip-ups on my rifles. The last three were flip-up rears paired with fixed fron sights.

I've killed deer with the SR25 I built (16" .308). I've built a few 300BLKs, a 6x45 a few .223s, and I'm slowly assembling a 357 AR Max (350 Legend before they were SAAMI standardized).

I’ve had rifles on and off since 2012. I would build it and decide it was taking up space and selling it. July 2020 I decided to build a purpose built work rifle for my LEO job. It’s really basic. Anderson stripped lower, magpul parts kit, 223/556 bear creak Arsenal upper, sig Romeo red dot, magpul back up irons, and an Amazon sling. Zero issues and runs great. Bought a 350 legend bear creak upper and I’ve had some issues with feeding. Polished the bolt, feed ramp, chamber and it’s fixed. It runs great now with factory or reloads.

I love my AR 15 and even though the red dot covered up the targets, we were busting clays at 110 yards. If I could change mine, I’d swap the barrel for 1:8 vs my 1:7 twist. My gun doesn’t like the abundant 55gr ammo. It’s got to be 62+ to love it. .223 or 5.56 are staples and everyone should have one…..just saying

Got to finally go shoot it today...I didn't follow exact barrel break in procedure but 9 magazines with a cleaning between each mag. I didn't clean or lube anything... Just threw it together...no malfunctions. I'll get a scope and rings soon and go get it sighted in with hunting rounds... Just 145gr fmj today. Have 170 and 180 grain to play with

Anybody got anything to say about the Bushnell banner 2? I couldn't take it out of the packaging to really look thru and inspect...online reviews are positive and price is right...seems like a good choice for a budget gun....most of the stuff I read about it online say it one of the better budget minded scopes at low light conditions

Without being able to look at it, I think my fixed 4x is a Bushnell Banner. Might be marketed as a shotgun scope. Simple, duplex reticle, glass is clear enough to see anything I'd have any business shooting with a 4x. I like it well enough, and have made a bunch of meat with it over the years. I'd buy another if it was $75-$100. Mind you, I've had it for over a decade, and I think they may have changed some things. Don't know if I've helped...

According to the interwebs the new models are suppose to be much higher quality....80-100 bucks is what I seeing it retail for.....on the shelf of the local academy 89 bucks if I remember correctly.

My friend, who's place I went to shoot, had his 223 out shooting with me....recoil between the 2 rounds was pretty much the same but the 350 packs quite a bit more thump at the target for sure...hopefully I draw a general gun and can find something to shoot at.

Picked up scope but the included rings don't raise the scope high enough ...rail contact doesn't allow it to mount....so I guess "medium" ring is needed?
I can/will get it figured out and mounted, but if any of u have any info to share that would be cool/helpful.... What the deal with single post ring vs cantilever... cantilever allows eye relieve adjustability correct? These single post worked out fine as far as eye relieve distance.

Go easy on me....I'm newbie

On an AR I was taught (by USAMU shooter) to shoot Nose To Charging Handle. So you shoulder the gun, touch your nose to the charging handle, and that puts your eye in the correct spot. You don't have to do it that way of course. But this usually requires a cantilever mount to get enough eye relief. Something like this:

Side charge....that would be awkward ..hahaha
I understand what u are trying to tell me

Ended up with the banner 2, 3x9x40.... Mailbox is 96yds. 3x and 9x. Maybe I remember to check it again this evening in low light conditionsScreenshot_20220430-165343~2.png

Those cantilever bases are money for the AR. Fortunately everybody makes one - Nikon, DNZ, Weaver, take your pick. 1-piece and 2-piece options. I mostly run the 2-piece Nikons but the DNZ are very nice indeed.
