Back Pain

I have been using the Flex all season. Im at the point where I plan on a 3 day weekend dark to dark but sit in Flex on Friday DTD and cant move the rest of the weekend. Are you still using the fleece @Cajunshooter @GCTerpfan? I might have to ditch The Flex like I did Mantis and pull out the fleece/Mammut RCH.

I have been researching the jx3. It looks nice but with no idea of a ship/delivery date, I refuse to go down the path of guessing when the product will ship...

Email Mr John. He will get back to you quick. Put in your email your saddle experience. He's a great guy and the JX3 is amazing. I love mine.

I have really thought about the JX3 for a while. It looks awesome but I just cant see how to carry it with my meat hauler pack that already weighs a lot and is bulky from carrying layers that I require to stay warm. Do you just put the pack over the jx3?

I have had 4 back surgeries so I know a little about it and I will tell you since I got my Guidos Web I have not had any problems with my back!! I will never go back to a climber!!!! I am sure the JX3 is just as good or better but I cannot comment on this because I have never used one but the GW is a game changer!!! Stick with it you will not regret it!!!!! If you have any questions feel free to pm me!

So having injured my back several times I am super careful about getting hurt. First are you doing the sitting or standing method when hunting? I do both and do back stretches while in the saddle.Second i lean on my tether as another position. I also believe hamstring tightness causes me to sit incorrectly..so stretch them. On really bad days I use the guido web. Keep your gear weight down. The systems like the web are heavy to carry in...so they have there own issues.

The JX3 carry’s better than. Guido. I do not use a pack with it

Just DanO pouches and I stuff clothes between the seats

Could you not pack out meat between the seat of the J X 3?

Severe back problems here. This is what I do:
First off I use a ridge runner. This allows me to stand. I start off leaning, make sure saddle is pulled up to allow extra support. Once my back starts to ache about the 2 hr mark I'll sit, before I sit I pull the saddle all the way out (I have a flex) to ensure maximum cupage. Then I'll sit for awhile until the back quits bitching. Then I'll stand and face the tree for awhile, then I'll turn around with my back to the tree for awhile. Then I'll go back to leaning. Back still aches a bit but it's better than when I was using hang ons. For you ros folks I guess you're a bit more limited.

And you are definitely right about the hamstring tightness, anytime my back hurts really bad I stretch out my hamstrings and that helps ALOT!!! Yoga has helped me more than anything else!!

I am primarily a sitter but yes I do both. I adjust my aerohunter back band and stretch over that in different places. I use the LWHC for now as its the lightest and easiest to carry. I take my pack/bow off to climb and pull it up once im in tree to be light for the climb. You could pack meat out with jx3. I just cant see how I would carry everything that I normally carry in my pack, in/on the JX3 and be organized.

I have an injured back and I can't hunt with out my back band with my Flex or Kestrel. I have a Guido's Web and if I were to try and sit longer than 4 hours I would use my Web.

Aeds I have been using the Flex this season and my Mantis has not been touched this year. The Flex has been super comfortable for me but I have NOT sat all day. My longest sits have be around 4-5 hours. When it gets a little colder and I think I may sit longer I will use the fleece along with the Flex. I know that will be way more comfortable.

I still have my fleece saddles but, I typically grab my kite size 2 now. Mainly just for simplicity as it's one item to use instead of two. The fleece is still a little more comfortable. As far as back pain, a back band is a necessity for me. I can't sit very long without it before my back starts aching. Something else to try is to adjust your tether height. If my lower back starts hurting I will move my tether up a little bit, which puts more weight in the lower strap and changes the pressure on my back.

The jx3 can double as a pack frame. Look at garret's video from diy sportsman on YouTube. He does a darn near prefect job explaining this thing.

I’m running a Hornhunter G2 and got sick of sandwiching it between the seat and the seat back frame... so I put all my extra layers in there, sandwich it, then hang the bag off the back and the sticks across the top, and cinch all this down with the leg straps, this carries really well. Yes a big frame pack would be overkill, not necessary, but you could do it. Longer term you just need a lightweight bag. Will this carry meat out as well as a frame pack? Not quite.

Stretch, man stretch. Get a regular stretching routine.
Quads, hamstrings, and glutes.
And you can do a few things while you are hanging that can help. Pelvic tilts, and ass squeezes help the back, and really don't require that much movement. Its almost like isometrics.
Helps heep you warm and you'll shoot better, too.

Ya I started stretches and got a foam roller I use against the wall and on the floor. I also might cut back on free weight lifting that I do 3-5 x per week. At least the exercises that are not supported by a bench. I will try this out with a fleece saddle instead of changing everything by getting a jx3.

I have a bad back..... I've found chest high tether and leaning as far back as i can while still being able to grab my bow to help with back pain. I use a back band as well. I alternate sitting with my thighs parallel or knees slightly higher to leaning to were my back is pretty straight and my body is 45degree angle off the trunk. Gotta have good core strength work that much swing on your tether rope

Are the trees you sit in basket ball size in width? Larger trees are harder to sit in. Does you saddle fit? Knee pads are very necessary. Stand or balance on with weight on one knee or leg. I had an evolution that was to big, found if I pushed it down I could sit in it all day. It was to big. Other than taking meds before you go..that’s about all I can think of.

I have to use two back bands myself. One for back, and the second for thighs, underneath. You can rig the thigh band with just about anything, like extra tether or lineman belt. I use daisy chain hammock straps. Not elegant, but worth a try. 3 spinal fractures here.
