Truck will give you tons of cred with the devil dogs. “Damn, Chaps drives a truck? He’s good people!”
Yeah, I’ve pretty much always had one. And my dad always had one when I was growing up. I know life is gonna be different for me when I’m a Navy chaplain. But I still think I’m gonna want a truck.
I had hoped to get to officer development school a little sooner (Before the end of deer season in Rhode Island). That way I could try to be the first person ever to butcher a deer on the grounds! That would probably give me some credibility with some guys... and lose a whole lot with others. ODS is supposed to be a “knife and fork” school for Navy officers. I already know how to use mine LOL!Truck will give you tons of cred with the devil dogs. “Damn, Chaps drives a truck? He’s good people!”
When I was stationed at Norfolk Virginia, one of my best friends got an on-base parking sticker for his John Deere tractor! He claimed it was his “personal vehicle”.Oh well now that changes things.....if it’s cred you’re looking for, might I suggest a fire truck.....
It looks like a US Marine bought a fire truck. And yes, that's totally allowed
Turns out you can totally buy a fire truck and drive it around base, assuming you have the appropriate license, insurance, and don't mind being stopped by the Duty NCO every five minutes.taskandpurpose.com

That's awesome! We had a bear of time getting use of THE duty truck for Devron12 so me and a buddy of mine bought a ‘64 Chevy stepside, painter that thing haze gray and stenciled USN and SSN-690 on the doors and M-DIV on the tailgate. One day the CO of the Boston called our CO and asked if his guys could use our Duty Truck. Capt. Ryan told him, “ain’t my truck. It’s M-Div’s truck and I ain’t asking ‘em, you ask ‘em. Ask nicely though, those fellas can be a testy lot”
Loved that man. Great CO!
Well you’ll be a mustang anyway, you’re supposed to be rebellious and unpredictable. Very nice. But the bed isn't long enough to sleep in is it?

It will work for me. I’m 5”10 and can sleep anywhere. I need the Crewmax because I have 3 kids. Otherwise I would have the regular 4 door tundra (longer bed). Really I can sleep just fine in the rear seat of my crewmax. It’s disgustingly spacious.
I have the 3 kid problem also so went the same route as you. I want a topper too. I just have a roll up top on my bed to hide my gear. Just got a lift and new tires.
Wow that’s awesome and next on my list. What lift and size tires? I just want to clear 35’s. I would be real happy then.
