Right on. Thank you. Any combination recommendations on a CVA Wolf? I'm 6 for 6 in a 5.5" circle at 100yds with 2 Hodgdon pellets and a 300gr Hornady SST but I'd like to be better than than.
I’ll take all your pellets! I shoot a CVA Wolf and use 2 pellets. Shoots great, zero issues and at this point see no reason to change personally.Right on. Thank you. Exactly thisThey are more convenient but Blackhorn burns a lot cleaner. With pellets I had to deep clean my barrel about every 2-3 shots, at least, to maintain accuracy. With Blackhorn I can just run a dry swab every few shots and keep tight groups. But it’s not a huge issue once you have it sighted in. Just annoying at the range spending more time cleaning than shooting.

clean barrel after each shot when at the range sighting in
Pellets work fine. I prefer 209 but that’s bc I really like to shoot my ML a lot. Killed piles of deer with pellets. I’d start there & then work up to the few extra steps of loose powder & then breech plugs/ primer combos that like 209Boom. Perfect. Thank you. I'm going to need to link up with yall before next season if these pellets don't produce.
I cannot find 209 primers anywhere around where I live anybody have any suggestions?
I use a .45 pistol round with a sabot and at 100 I’m pretty accurate. I need to shoot it here soon so I can report a group back to u later. Their also really cheap to shoot. Or try Barnes TMZ bullets their also awesomeRight on. Thank you. Any combination recommendations on a CVA Wolf? You sure about that? I see nothing in the regs and page 87 deals with CWD sampling and public land hunts (no mention of nontoxic ammo).I've used 209 since it came out. Cleanup is so easy, I'll never use anything else.
Just a note, Minnesota muzzleloader hunters must use nontoxic slugs(no lead) in state parks and scientific and natural areas. New regs this year, page 87. Just a matter of time and all state land will require it, copper appears to be the only option available now.
Try using Barnes Spitfire T-EZ. I use this out of my Optima V2 with excellent results.I’ve shot legit 3/4” groups out of my Optima with BH209, .429 Speed Deep Curl flat points and Harvester crush ribs. I measured my powder by weight, not volume.
Killed a couple of critters with them, and the little deer I shot with them, that was way too much bullet. If you don’t hit bone, those deep curl flat points are too stout of a bullet and you don’t get much expansion. I’m going to try some .452 XTP bullets next go-round and see how they work.
