Budget SRT?

For the record, I don't follow all the threads and such and so I am not familiar with the concept and cost of being a "vendor" and the associated badge. If Brydan can send me a PM with the details, I will look into it tonight as I am starting my workday shortly and wont be online. Also be aware that I am not actually a "vendor" in the literal sense that a vendor sells something. I spend money hosting a website so I can give you information. It would take me little effort to sell climbing systems on my website. It's just not a priority for me. Getting everyones butt tied in is a priority. Instead, I spend countless hours developing intellectual property (that others would attempt to patent for profit) and I disclose it publicly for free for others to use, and potentially sell. Much of the content isn't even for me. I get called into chats like this and try to help. And when you do need to buy something, I direct you to where you can go to buy it at a discount. I have had multiple offers from companies who would provide me a way to make a significant commission by pushing their products but you pay full price. I said : No Thanks. I am only interested in deals if you guys get a discount. My motto is basically: I am fine with pennies earned with integrity instead of dollars selling gear. Bottom line is that I am not interested in earning any income if it comes with even a hint of a question on my integrity and motivation. Cheers.

Just go to the list of forums and there's a whole vendor section https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/vendor-rules-explained.23949/

FWIW, I don't have a related business or any affiliation with this site. I'm just a hunter and retired Arborist with a landscape business but I've been on this site long enough to know that industry related businesses have rules they're supposed to follow. Nobody will question your integrity if you make a few shekels on the side. People question it when they feel like there isn't transparency. No big deal, read through the vendor section and see what it says.

Man we're talking about SRT climbing. If @redsquirrel wants @John RB to shell out for a vendor account, that's on him. If folks have permission to post Amazon affiliate links without paying a premium to profit off of their interactions here, I don't see why @John RB should be treated differently. If he bothers you that much you're free to ignore him and let the rest of us talk about climbing instead of your vendetta.

I guess I missed it but who else is posting affiliate links on a regular basis?

Well, I'm not 100% on this but anyone posting YouTube videos is affiliated with YouTube after reaching a certain number of followers(compensated). Are they required vendors? Alot of product reviewers, catching some change..
I feel jrb is very informative and helpful, rather than pushing product. I don't use anything he has done but I watch and listen.

The videos greatest attribute is the rope setting and retrieval method. I LOVE these guys and their videos. but. I sm perfecting my SRT and I'm stll all about the gri gri/hand ascender method.

f4 has a danger factor that the gri gri plus nullifies

The FCX device has the same anti-panic handle and is rated for 7.5 - 8mm ropes. The problem with the Gri Gri and Safeguard is that they are not rated for 8mm ropes. So it's use at your own risk. But plenty of people use them with 8mm ropes.

They should catch a scarlet V too if they are compensated. Like @Jefferson10940 said, there is no fee. It is just a transparency feature for the rest of the membership that might not be aware of a particular posters affiliations that produce revenue. If a poster in that situation wants to add clarification for their vendor tag, add "affiliate links" or your company affiliation in the signature, again like @Jefferson10940.

Needs some tweaks but a good starting point. Nice find!

10-4 as is it packs down pretty small which is nice, the whole rope walker system fits in my hand. But the one Dan’s using in the video is nice because it’s always in place ready to go

I run an 11mm canyon rope. No spaghetti straps for me. We do enough stuff thats off- label application, might as well let the gear work at spec.

Friends, motivated by all the questions I get on SRT, I have started a playlist where I plan to address specific scenarios with non mechanical solutions. There are 3 videos on it so far.

1. I did an introductory video while carrying 105lbs of cast iron... that one is just for the naysayers who have never rope climbed in a good system and claim rope climbing is difficult. But can they climb with that kinda load? Hmm...

2. This system is one I devised 4 years ago when using the double meech instead of the JRB Ascender.

3. Here it is in minimum complexity, subbing the Longhorn Agile for the JRB Ascender and simplifying rigging and retreival.

I've been using a sticht hitch and a climbing sling footloop with a garda hitch for sit-stand SRT. I run the tail of the climbing line through the upper carabiner to make it easier to advance the garda. I had all the components laying around but I can't imagine you couldn't buy everything but the climbing line for around $50.
