How did I miss that????
Edit, I have to have them now!
How did I miss that????
That’s only for a couple minutes. To pass the test it has to hold double the weight rating for like 2 or 3 minutes I believe it is.
Yes, the info is in the video.I paid my dues to get access to the sausage making here but let it lapse, and had a kid.
Is there a defined duty cycle, and a test requiring a certain number of duty cycles?
Or is it just “hang a bubba for as long as it takes him to blow a snot rocket and drop his platform?”

Might have sold it to them in the “lone wolf” sale…. But who knowsI can't find a patent. Their may be one, IDK. I don't think LWCG would have given Novix rights to a patent but I could be wrong.
Depends on the test. There is a “cycles” test as well.I paid my dues to get access to the sausage making here but let it lapse, and had a kid.

I am no stick engineer, but their are sticks with fixed standoffs and the LW design rotating standoffs.Honestly not bad looking, they got it done on the weight, esp on the 17”. Too much fiddle and I won’t use aiders hanging on a single point, so not for me but it’s interesting. Wonder why they didn’t make the standoff turn with the step, that would drastically reduce the fiddling and metal-metal clanking while stacking. Couldn’t flip step once set but worth the trade to me.
You just nailed the problem with all the new sticks, platforms and stands. Mostly young guys that for some reason wont seem to listen to old rednecks that have used dang near everything ever made. When I see a new product I always wonder about the guy who designed them.
I reasearched the owner of Cat Trax and I am starting to feel a little better about these sticks. He is a young guy but he does have a mechanical engineering degree.
At least he is not a old red neck like me. I would love to save 2lbs and
I hope he does well but I am not paying for a pre-order with a 6 month ship time.
There's lots of sticks, only one Little Debbie. The report showed it held a load of 550 lbs. I am OK with that, as long as I stay away from the Little Debbie's.

Fixed usuall have sharp teeth, Beast sticks for example. On trees with lumps and bumps, they work by cutting into the tree so they make the tree conform to the stick.
The rotating standoffs are not sharp. They work by rotating so the sticks conform to the tree. I have used both and I find the rotating standoff sticks more solid and quieter to set on the tree.
Not sure who you are referring to?There may be only 1 set of sticks with rotating standoffs on the market soon if the patent comes through…

Same meet him today vary nice guy answered every question, also mentioned that he’s working on double step version. Vary light, but doesn’t feel week or cheeseI saw these today at GAOS. Couldn't believe how light. Owner was very nice and took time to answer questions. I asked where he was initially seeing the stick crack during the development process. He almost seemed surprised I asked. He said "didn't really see that" which I thought was an odd response. Would I buy them? Probably if I had the money. But, I don't, so I guess I'll suffer with a few more measly pounds on my back.
Did a little searching and didn't see the sticks with holes, just fluted ones.It depends on how you cut them down. And if you want tge rotating standoff mod.
@GBlevins92 says in his video that his ready to hunt LW mod sticks are: a 24” tube (about 22” step-step) with stealth strips and versa strap, just under 1.8lbs.
Welcome to 2018, looks like 2024 may be a fun DIY year for you! The good old days. Heads up the novix and old lone wolfs are 1” tube, double check your XOPs before buying if you go that route.Did a little searching and didn't see the sticks with holes, just fluted ones.
Did a little more searching and found LW uses 6061 aluminum.
Did some looking and found 6061 aluminum 1.250 x 1.250 x .125 6061 aluminum square tube at 36" for $15 each....plus shipping (may find locally ?) to make those "holy" tubing sticks Vs. drilling my XOP's for a trial ?
Couldn't find a weight chart.

6061 is the most versatile of the heat treatable aluminum alloys. In the age hardened T6 temper, it offers excellent mechanical properties as well as reasonable corrosion resistance. Weldability and forming are good. Forming can be improved by annealing.fastmetals.com
