EZV Set Up Tips

I am just starting with this sight as well but it sounds like you might need to change v insert? Go up one in speed? I think that is what it said in sight in instructions?
If you’re sight is dead on at 20, 30, 40, etc, when framing the paper target, but when framing a 3D target you find yourself instinctively framing a smaller area and therefore are not hitting where you should, your insert is fine. You just need to reset your 20 yd ticks to accommodate your smaller/instinctive sight picture and all the other tick marks will fall in line.

Are you using the sides with the yardage marks?

Yes I am still using the tick marks. If I pre range for 20 yards and then use the top tick marks I can 10 ring it no problem. It's just that the sight picture looks way too big to me. I'm not really framing the vitals as much as framing the front 2/3 of the deer. My eye wants to raise the V up to nestle the vitals in it more, but if I do the arrow goes high.

This is exactly how I was thinking about it. On paper I was punching the white circle no problem at the standard ranges. On the 3d my instinctive framing is apparently different than the black oval.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely going to try moving the V up. It makes more sense to me to go with my instincts rather than force my mind to learn a different sight picture.

I just did exactly is the other day and it made a big difference for me. My percieved aiming point is smaller than than the circle suggested with the EZ-V so I just set it up ten yards off (i.e. I'm sighting to the 30 yard mark for a 20 yard distance, etc.). Where I hunt it would be uncommon to even have a 40 yd opportunity so this works well for me.

Before I did this I was rocking tight groups at 25-40 yds but my consistency was falling off inside 20. By reducing the diameter of my aiming circle it really improved my near shots without adversely affecting the longer ones.

I think I am having similar issues. Could it be that my deer target is smaller than average?

throw it in the garbage or send it back and get yourself a good black gold or spot hog or excel and a range finder

Have to agree that the ezv has been a better sight for me. When I am shooting 3D with other people in my archery club I get some funny looks. I love when some one with the really fancy sight asks me what the yardage is before we shoot, I say "not a clue" and then I shoot. They have to range and start adjusting this and clicking that. I may not hit the 12 ring or the "spot" but I am in the 10 ring or making "killing" shots on alot more targets than I did with my old sight. For me it's all about the hunt. When I get serious about wanting to kill a "12" spot maybe I'll get a new sight. Until then ezv for me.

The group I shot 3D with commented on how fast I was able to acquire the target and get the shot off.

I bought a Mission Sub 1 crossbow a few weeks ago and did not care for the scope. I was doing a search for crossbow sights and found that EZV makes one. After a few emails I decided to give it a try. I thought it was a little hard to set up since there was no where to start the set up. Once I got it dialed in it’s dead nuts at 20-30 yards. I am not crazy about he plastic peep they sent with it but the sight itself is solid.

Been thinking about trying one for a while now, now with the new inserts. Any new tidbits to report?
Really like the new inserts. Field of view was always an advantage with the ezv sight but the new inserts with the thinner V opens up your field of view even more which enables significantly greater low-light visibility and focus on the target.

And once you are properly sighted-in using the 20-yard tick marks on one FPS size V-Insert, you are sighted-in at 20-yards for ALL FPS size V-Inserts which means that you can switch to a faster or slower V-Insert without having to start all over at 10-yards and 20-yards.

Nice, one size insert for a lighter faster arrow, different one for a super heavy arrow, where needed. Have to verify tune of course.
I really need to just try it, 30 day money back, nothing to loose but cost of shipping. I see on AT the ones that go up for sale are gone pretty quick.
Off work 3'rd week July, just staying home, guess its time.

The first two days I shot with mine, I was ready to throw it in the garbage--now I wouldn't trade it for any other sight on the market.

I have had my EZV for about 2 months now and I am loving it. I have found that I am more accurate with the EZV than I was with pins. I have noticed that left/right misses are almost non-existent now. If I am off, it is a little high or low. I think your brain automatically centers the target in the V. I have also seen the improvement in reducing or even eliminating target panic like EZV claims. Without having a pin that is moving I am able to just allow the sight to float naturally on the target. This allows me to get a good clean release rather than punching the trigger. The other thing that really helped me that may not apply to everybody is the ability to see. I turned 50 this year and the last few years I have really struggled to see pins clearly, especially in low light. Now with the EZV that problem is completely eliminated. I can shoot with both eyes open and see the target clearly framed in the V.
