First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

From the pictures & my experience with the TreeLounge it weighs more but it does have some advantages. It doesn't need to be adjusted while climbing. It would be easier to climb with & lock down with a strap with the rails sticking up like in the picture, grips the tree really well & the arms going up beside the tree could be used as footrests after the climber is strapped down. On the other hand it is heavier & bulkier, it doesn't afford the same flat place to stand as the LW\XOP & you have to deal with knobs for the back bar.

I found a summit open shot for 60 bucks at a pawn shop in excellent condition. Took the seat off and attached a thin piece of plywood. I was going to use the bungee but found it easier to climb using the bar on the corners.
It'll take some practice but definitely doable.

Love the idea, just too heavy! I'm curious to see how much weight you remove by switching to aluminum.

Great work keep it up! Life folks that are all DIY!

Don't shoot anything while hunting btw. It would be too heavy lol. Little sarcasm lol

Be sure to strap that thing down when u get to hunting height to keep it from tipping.

Been thinking of doing the same with my openshot.
How thin is the plywood that you used?

Quarter inch I believe, it's super light. Much better then toting sticks for sure. I'm thinking of bringing an aider and using it to ease back down to strap the platform down. Idk even if it tilted it's not like I can fall.
Work in progress.

I hate using sticks. I know what u mean.

Just cut some aluminum diamond plate to fit and weld or rivet it to it. Just a idea

I had contemplated using aluminum & rivets. I will have to look through my junk pile and see what I have on hand.

Yah, also it looks like nothing besides gravity is holding the cables in place
Back when I used a summit I always used a sinch strap and pulled

If u rivet it, I'd be sure to run a bead of silicon down before I attached it. This would keep it from making any noise

Dude I am so jealous I’ve been trying to find one.

I just weighed a Treelounge foot climber made with 'D' shaped tubing rather than the original square tubing. Take into consideration that this was on bathroom digital scales. Weighed it twice. Each time it weighed 4lbs 6oz.

Mine is square aluminum. Screenshot_20180820-190722_Gallery.jpg
