First impression of climbing with LW Hand Climber

Could you put a piece of tubing over the LW strap? That would save having to replace it but still give you something smooth to slide up the tree.Ought to catch less.

That’s a great idea heat shrink on the belt that might solve the hanging up issue. That’s what’s cool about this site. @REID2168
I still think the rigidity of the cable would climb better but heat shrink would probably help a lot. And quiet it down some too.

it would have to be at least 1" tubing of some type because I already tried 3/4" and it wont fit its just to tight to try and feed it thru:disrelieved:....Good Luck!!!!!!!:sunglasses:

when I get tubing its gonna need to be a harder type exterior maybe the clear stuff that has the reinforcement inside it u can see as it seems to have a SLICKER EXTERIOR on the outside then say regular black rubber hose that's gonna wanna have a grabby exterior feel to it...……….Good Luck!!!!!!!:sunglasses:

Yes, I think so!

So are y’all thinking of using this pipe to go over the lone wolf climbing belt so there are less chances of catching on the tree? Would the pipe still hold when using the platform good because all the weight will be on the edge of the platform?

In theory yes. And it should also make it quieter.

I have the LW HC and it packs well and mine weighs a little over 3lbs. I also have a Summit Openshot and have used it as a platform. It climbs much better than the LW HC. Mine weighs a little over 5 lbs. I plan on removing the aluminum folding seat and replacing it with 3/8 plywood or maybe aluminum square tubing. I don't know what the finished weight will be. It doesn't pack as well as the LW and probably won't adjust to fit as small a tree as the LW but it may be worth it due to how it climbs. Any suggestions?

You have what I want the open shot seat. I don’t know what I did with mine. I think I let someone borrow it and forgot who. I know it would climb better and you could make a custom cable. Longer cable with more Swedge’s or niko’s whatever those little steel crimp on things are called. Then you would have the Climber Cadillac.
If you know anyone with one to sell I’m very interested.

It is listed as a handclimber accessory if I remember correctly.

Ya I already sent a message saying I was interested with no reply yet. I never bought anything from the beast I guess you deal directly with seller.
Plus I’m in Israel offshore and my PayPal is blocked. So this should be interesting to say the least.

I checked on line. I think the cable stops are called a 'wire rope clamp stopper'. I saw one that clamps on with 4 screws that looked like it would work. If additional stop are needed.

Its one in the morning on the east coast - so depending on where he lives he may be in bed.

We had crimps for slicing cables on shrimp boat rigging. We had three foot long crimpers looked like bolt cutters. We crimped eye splices with thimbles in the rigging and tow cables. It would work I still have a friend with the crimpers. So you could make a cable for smaller and larger trees.
