Gone soft, southern public, mobile system

I really tried to get a video today... I failed of course. I had to twist tie the phone to hold it and accidentally partially covered up the len....idiot
Roughly 12 minutes from ground to 20 ft standing on the platform taking my time. My wife had to come out and have a small conversation during that time so can confidently say I hit 20ft in 10min....takes about the same amount of time to get back down... 26:44 to hit record and walk over, climb, pull up the bb gun and shoot, lower bb gun, descend, including rope management and all climbing gear put away in its proper place.....I can do it faster but I like to go slow as to not make any mistakes. 20200718_185742.jpg

I've been struggling with a way to add traction to the soft platform....wet shoes make it a little slick.....the other night I saw the kids socks and saw the puff paint traction they put on the bottom of socks so that leads us to arts and crafts hour with weldabeast.....

Instructions say to wait 4 hours to cure so I give it a try tomorrow..... hopefully the puff paint adheres add it stays on there.....those socks work good so I think this work

Perfect since I like to hunt in my socks

Maybe I can set a cushion on my platform and do this

It’s tough being in socks on a predator or my super old school LW

In miserable hot FL weather I almost always hang boots up in tree but it’s a lot easier in a climber

Embrace the croc

Can’t do it

I’m anti-croc & make fun of guys at my fire dept that wear them

Maybe when DaveT starts wearing crocs , I’ll consider it

They actually would work I’m sure & I could lock them in 4 wheel low so they don’t fall off me feet from 30ft up

I would have to be a closet case though, with no public photos

They would be my “moped” ( fun to ride but embarrassing to be seen on) if I got some

That’s what I need

Flip flops are too flexible

Socks only : hurts while leaning on edge of platform

Just hate to be a hypocrite but if it’ll help kill then may reconsider

This is a great thread, love your innovation and the fact that your solutions/improvements are all simple and relatively inexpensive. I think this is an important lesson for noobs like myself.. the answer doesn't always have to be a manufactured, expensive piece of gear, or replacing the gear that you have on hand with the like. Get creative, experiment. I should add that this should not be an attitude taken by a new guy to any life safety aspects of a system. Thanks @Weldabeast

Thanks to my buddy @Red Beard I get to include rappelling into the system this year....36ft of rope showed up in a box from Virgina and I proceeded to get learned on the super munter thanks to @TJutte ... To incorporate this technique and gear into my system I keep the rope (rappel and pull down) in this mess sack I found. That mess sack lives in a EWO nuttersac that @DanO modified and had made for me. The nutter sac lives in the center of my back on the vest. I still use a my tether as before and the rappel rope only comes out when it's time to go. I take everything out of the mess sack and put the mess sack in my pocket. I let the daisy chain out and attach with the link and use the Celtic knot (notice in the pic how I left the trails long and wrapped in reflective vinyl... Maybe I won't forget to advance it down) I learned from @always89y and set the rope. I attach my linesman's rope and disconnect from the bridge. I take the tether biner off the tether and put the tether away. I use that biner to hook up the bridge and super munter. Attach the pull down (paracord and small biner) and descend. Once on the ground and rope outta the tree I stuff it all in that mesh sack real quick and start heading out. I'll put the ropes away correctly at the truck..... Thanks for all the help fellasScreenshot_20200913-172855(1).png

I do have a question for y'all..... If I wanted to mark the halfway/center point of my rope what would be a good way of doing that? I was thinking of paint pen or whiteout.... Just seems like that would wear out quickly

Love the reflective tape idea on the ends of the stopper knot!

I've marked the center of a rope with plain masking tape in the past. Lasted quite awhile.

U marked your rappel rope with tape? Using the friction hitch to descend creates a bunch of....well....friction. I didn't think tape would stay put

whats the reason for marking the half way point?

Oh ok... doubled up daisy so its more compact. Good ideeeer
