So looking at prices for some merino wool type base layers. Also note most everyone is making some kinda wool based undies. So then I ask the question, of why two layers of the same thing? Most of the base layer stuff seems to fit like some undies. So should I just ditch the mix blend undies and just rock the base layer? Quick wash them as needed? Seems I can recall the swampy feeling a few times after a ruff climb. I get if your on a multi day trip it can be beneficial to save laundry. But for anyone returning back home after a hunt?
Oh yeah. No photos. Family friendly people.

Kinda do the opposite. Haven't used a specific base layer in years; only have two sets of clothing that get much use. Early season is First Lite Kanab merino pants and either a First Lite zip crew or a plaid shirt. Once it cools, the above is the base layer, with KOM bibs over top. Below freezing, add a KOM shirt. That's all; that's it...otherwise commando. There; I said it.

No photos? I’m out.
lol seriously tho I’ve tried it without undies and I get too much swamp butt. I wear undies to help transport sweat. Also, sorry ladies, not trying to be uncouth but undies keep everything in their place.
same here. my undies basically sacrifice themselves so my merino base layer lasts longer between washes etc.

I wear synthetic boxer briefs under my base layers for hunting as well as for skiing. What I found is that the base layers don’t fit the inner thigh and crotch well and if I have a lot of walking it gets uncomfortable with the rubbing and or bunching.

ever find any with the polygience/silver treatment.....my base layers now all have it and it seems like you'd want that everywhere to reduce the chance of perma funk

Friend of mine recently introduced me to pair of thieves boxer briefs. They are great for the swamp arse management. Highly recommend.
